OBAMA TO ADDRESS GAY GROUP

Spread The Love
President Obama will speak tomorrow at the annual dinner of the Human Rights Campaign, which considers itself  “America’s largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality.”  President Clinton was the very first U.S. President to ever address the group back in 1997, making Mr. Obama only the second President to do so thus far.  The speech will come one day before the National Equality March on Washington, where participants will call for equal rights for gays, lesbians and transgendered people.  In his speech, President Obama will likely address his still unfulfilled campaign promise to end “DON’T ASK, DON’T TELL” which would allow gays to serve openly in the military.  He may also discuss a bill currently headed for passage in Congress that will allow for same sex marriages in the District of Columbia.
