OBAMA’S COMEDY MOMENT
The annual White House Correspondent’s Dinner was held Saturday night, in an evening filled with bipartisan grins and giggles.
Hosted by Jimmy Kimmel at the Washington Hilton Hotel, the event that celebrates those journalists who cover White House politics was attended by such celebrities as Barbara Walters, Elle Macpherson, Mary J. Blige, David Arquette, John Legend, Eva Longoria, Reese Witherspoon, Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron and more.
President Obama has always been seen as charismatic and personable, so it’s no surprise that his comedic stylings were the highlight of the night. The President began this year’s comedy routine in a stunt involving an off-stage “open mic” with Mr. Obama delivering such lines such as: “Why is she [Kim Kardashian] famous anyway?,” “I’m like a five on the ‘Just for Mens’ scale,” “I literally have no idea what I’m saying tonight,” and “God forbid we keep Chuck Todd and the cast of Glee waiting.”
Perhaps one of Mr. Obama’s best jokes regarded a very important anniversary.
“Last year at this time, in fact on this very weekend, we finally delivered justice to one of the world’s most notorious individuals.” But instead of showing Osama Bin Laden, Mr. Obama flashed a photo of Donald Trump.
The president also took a playful jab at his Secretary of State: “Four years ago, I was locked in a brutal primary battle with Hillary Clinton. Four years later, she won’t stop drunk-texting me from Cartagena.” He also went after the Republican contender who is vying for his job, with a staged and hilarious campaign commercial from a Romney PAC regarding the subject of dogs (Romney’s on the roof of his car and Obama supposedly eating them as a child).
In closing, Mr. Obama ended the evening by saying, “I have a lot more material prepared, but I have to get the Secret Service home in time for their new curfew.”
