France Telecom/Orange has brought the app to the iPhone to enhance its built-in voicemail functionality. The ON VoiceFeed app gives users the option to create personalized messages for individual callers or even groups of callers. The app can set up a universal greeting for unknown callers, or tailored messages for family, friends or co-workers.
The app originally debuted on the Android platform last year, but was delayed for the iPhone, since the app needed to be tailored to each platform. Testing for the app was so successful, Orange was forced to add a tone to its voicemail, as callers found the messages so personalized that they actually starting speaking to the recording.
The app is available NOW for free in the iTunes App Store as a way of introducing US customers to the company. “Telecoms are going to become much, much more global,” says Giles Corbett, the head of the Orange Vallee unit.
