The truth is, all the selfies he took did seem a little suspect to me. But I simply chalked it up to the likelihood he was a narcissist. (btw- I do think that was part of his problem).

But given the magnitude of the horrific act of violence he carried out, it's clear there was more…a lot more…bad stuff going on inside that guy, in addition to being a narcissist.

Just tragic.

Jim Van Horn, 71, said Mateen was a "regular" at the popular Pulse nightclub where he'd later take hostages and leave 49 dead. "He was trying to pick up people. Men," Van Horn told The Associated Press late Monday outside the Parliament House, another gay club. "I think it's possible that he was trying to deal with his inner demons, of trying to get rid of his anger of homosexuality," said Van Horn, who lost three friends in the shooting. "It's really confusing to me. Because you can't change who you are. But if you pretend that you're different, then you may shoot up a gay bar."

"Sometimes he would go over in the corner and sit and drink by himself, and other times he would get so drunk he was loud and belligerent," said Ty Smith, who remembered seeing Mateen inside at least a dozen times.

I cosign with your theory completely. Having come to that same conclusion myself last night.

I've seen the same reports as well. The more I hear, the more it seems as if this crime has nothing to do with terrorism and more to do with "personal" reasons.

The shooter frequented this exact gay club twice a month for THREE YEARS! Several gay men have also come forward to reveal they've regularly chatted with him on gay hook up websites and apps. If his only reason for ever going to the gay club was to case it for his eventual attack, he didn't need to go every other weekend for THREE YEARS to do it.

My theory is this man was secretly gay and had an affinity for Hispanic men (his ex-wife nearly admitted it on TV when she discussed the "secret life" he told her about prior to their marriage). Perhaps he thought a mass killing of all the men he was attracted to at the club would magically eradicate his sexual desires for them. His mention of ISIS and radicalism seems to be a mere cover for his real intentions.

Several of the people shot said the gunman asked them if they were Hispanic before shooting. He reportedly said "I don't have a problem with the blacks, just Hispanics" which was his obvious target. If he was acting out an authentic ISIS attack, he wouldn't have cared about race.

The man was gay and was likely having an inner struggle due to his Muslim faith. Or maybe he got up the courage to make a sexual advance toward someone but was rejected, which caused him to snap. He needed to mention ISIS so it wouldn't be so obvious that this was just a regular man with a personal struggle that he felt he needed to take out specifically on Hispanics.

Again, just my own theory.
