Last week when Sarah Palin announced she would resign as Governor of Alaska at the end of the month, political pundits were puzzled and looking for answers. No one could understand why the first term governor would quit mid term and risk any possibility of a future political career. But Palin’s former “son-in-law-in-waiting” Levi Johnston, says he knows the REAL reason why she’s calling it quits.

According to Johnston, Palin has been deluged with huge financial offers for a book deal, a reality show, the lecture circuit and more. As we all know, cash talks, and with a looming $500,000 legal debt Palin has simply decided (at least for now) to skip politics for a huge payday. “I think the big deal was the book. That was millions of dollars,” said Johnston who claims he heard the governor several times say how nice it would be to take advantage of the lucrative deals that have been coming her way since being thrust into the spotlight. Politicians have very stringent salary and ethical restraints. But Palin could bypass all of that by skipping politics and proceeding as a “personality” instead of perhaps a “President.” Her history seems more geared for that type of future career versus a standard political one, which she could likely flip back to politics years from now after manipulating the spotlight. If this is the real reason behind her abrupt political resignation, it’s a risky strategy, but one that could eventually pay off for Palin in dividends.

In other Sarah Palin news, some Republicans who are facing tough political contests in 2010, are already saying they simply want Sarah Palin to stay home and stay away. Apparently they never got the memo and don’t believe she is the political asset she believes herself to be. Interesting!

McCain HQ had suggested the following line: "This is not a man who sees American as you and I do — as the greatest force for good in the world. Palin was in waaay OVER her heard from day ONE.
