PASTOR SUPPORTS MARRIAGE EQUALITY

Spread The Love

Yesterday, OK WASSUP! presented the story of a hate-filled pastor, who stood in the pulpit of his church to denounce same-sex marriage and President Obama’s support of it. Today, we’d like to present you with the other side.

On the exact same day of the hate-filled sermon, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss, III, pastor of Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago displaced the image of the “stuck on stupid” pastor, by providing a logical and love-filled explanation of why marriage equality is not our enemy.

In an open letter to those other pastors who have been selectively choosing to “Love Thy Neighbor” so long as they’re straight, Rev. Moss has a very simple message: “LIVE your faith, but don’t LEGISLATE it!”

It’s a powerful statement in support of equality that is a must see:

And so I don’t see any reason not to say that they should be able to get married," he said.Powell flipped and announced his support for the repeal of the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" policy in February 2010 after opposing efforts in the 1990s to allow gays and lesbians to serve openly in the military as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff.  […]Video: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/23/colin-po
