PETRAEUS RESIGNS!
CIA Director David Patraeus has resigned, following the discovery by the FBI of his involvement in a sordid romantic triangle and extra-marital affair that posed a potential threat to the agency.
Author Paula Broadwell, a former Army Reserve officer who had inexplicably close access to Patraeus and had written a biography on the decorated military general, is said to be the woman Patraeus was having the affair with. The FBI was alerted to “suspicious emails” between Broadwell and another woman that initially did not contain any connection to Petraeus. The harassing emails were threats from Broadwell to the “other woman” to leave Patraeus alone. When the woman went to the FBI, they traced the threats to Broadwell and then uncovered a plethora of explicit emails between Petraeus and Broadwell.
Patraeus announced his resignation from the CIA during what is widely considered a late afternoon “Friday News Dump,” when most people aren’t paying close attention to the news. The former CIA Director acknowledged the extramarital affair and said he showed “extremely poor judgment.”
Gen. Patraeus led U.S. and NATO troops in Afghanistan and was credited with helping pull Iraq out of civil war. His admission and resignation is likely the end of a stellar public career by of one of the United States’ most highly regarded generals.
Boy I'll tell ya. This "MESS" seems to get more and more scandalous every day.
