Player Doesn’t Want Gays in NFL
As the Supreme Court continues to debate marriage equality for same-sex couples, it’s rumored that a well known professional NFL player is ready to stand up and come out of the closet. But one fellow football player believes that would be a “selfish act.” HUH???
“Based on interviews over the past several weeks with current and former players, I’m told that a current gay NFL player is strongly considering coming out publicly within the next few months — and after doing so, the player would attempt to continue his career,” said Mike Freeman of CBS Sports. However, Seattle Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons doesn’t approve.
“Who on Gods earth is this person saying he’s coming out of the closet in the NFL?” tweeted Clemons, who doesn’t believe it would be a good idea for a player to come out of the closet while playing professional football. Needless to say, he took a beating on Twitter for his seemingly homophobic remarks.
“I’m not against anyone,” Clemons said. “But I think they just trying to make themselves bigger than the team.” He added, “I just think something’s should be left at home.” Hmmm…
LOGIC CHECK: So football players can bring their wives, girlfriends, baby’s mama’s, hookers, strippers, etc. around and that’s all OK… but a gay player in a committed relationship “should be left at home,” huh?
Yeah, right!
