Dear Donald Trump: Not only have your own people started turning against you, but 2 new damaging plea deals in your Georgia case could be enough to bring you to your knees.
Top News Today :
Last week, Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis delivered a near-knockout punch by convincing 2 high-level members of Donald Trump’s most trusted inner circle to turn on him and accept a plea deal. The move effectively proved to her detractors that they should NEVER underestimate her and her abilities.
On Thursday morning, former Trump attorney Sidney Powell reversed course by unexpectedly accepting a plea deal and pleading guilty to tampering with voting equipment in the Georgia election racketeering case.
Powell originally faced 7 charges, including violations of the Georgia Racketeering Act, conspiracy to commit election fraud, and more. Now, in exchange for singing like a canary and testifying against Trump during trial, Powell will only be required to serve 6 years of probation, pay $9,000 in restitution, turn over documents, testify at all future trials, and write an apology letter to the people of Georgia.
Oh, but wait. There’s more.
On Friday and less than 24 hours later, Trump lawyer and campaign legal adviser Kenneth Chesebro — who was set to begin trial this week — also struck a plea deal with Georgia prosecutors.
Chesebro, who was charged alongside Trump and more than a dozen other co-defendants with attempting to delay the transfer of power after the 2020 election, pled guilty to a felony count of conspiracy to commit filing false documents via his attempts to create a slate of fake electors. In exchange for testifying against Trump during trial, Chesebro will face 5 years probation. He must also pay a $5,000 fine, serve 100 hours of community service, and be required to continue to provide documents and evidence to the state in their case against Trump. He, too, must apologize to the people of Georgia.
Although some legal analysts are calling the agreements “light” and “a slap on the wrist,” the surprise dual plea deals are actually a coup and a feather in the cap of Fani Willis. Here’s why:
By now it’s mostly clear that Ms. Willis’ decision to name multiple defendants was a bit of a ruse. More specifically, she never intended to actually go after each defendant with the goal of convicting and putting them all behind bars. Instead, she has been using “lesser” defendants such as Sydney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro as bait to go after bigger fish.
According to SLATE: “Given Powell’s close proximity to the former president and his legal advisers at crucial times in his attempts to overturn the 2020 election, her testimony will be particularly devastating not only as to defendant Trump, but to co-defendants Rudy Giuliani and John Eastman.
“Chesebro’s testimony, meanwhile, implicates one of the key portions of the conspiracy both in Georgia and in the federal Jan. 6 case against Trump, specifically the efforts to create a slate of “false electors” to use during the Jan. 6 electoral count to overturn the results of the 2020 election. Now that both Chesebro and Powell are cooperating witnesses, the pressure on Giuliani and Eastman to plead and cooperate is exponentially higher.”
This means Fani Willis expects the testimonies from Powell and Chesebro to turn up the heat and light a veritable bonfire under the feet of Rudy Giuliani. He’s already near bankruptcy and can no longer afford to pay a team of attorneys to represent him. So, if Willis can flip Giuliani and give him a “Get Out Of Jail Free” card in exchange for valuable testimony during trial, it’ll be Game Over for Donald Trump.
As expected and right in the knick of time, Trump responded to at least 1 of the plea deals over the weekend.
Donald Trump once called Sydney Powell a member of “a truly great team, added to our other wonderful lawyers and representatives.” However, on Sunday, he played to the court of public opinion and laughably attempted to distance himself from her — almost as if the pair had zero affiliation.
“Despite the Fake News reports to the contrary, and without even reaching out to ask the Trump Campaign, MS. POWELL WAS NOT MY ATTORNEY, AND NEVER WAS,” Trump posted on his Truth Social network. He added that Powell “was one of millions and millions of people who thought, and in ever increasing numbers still think, correctly, that the 2020 Presidential Election was RIGGED & STOLLEN [sic], AND OUR COUNTRY IS BEING ABSOLUTELY DESTROYED BECAUSE OF IT!!!”
Hmmm. Nice try, Donald!
With new plea deals from Powell and Chesebro and a previous deal from Bail bondsman Scott Hall, 3 co-defendants have now turned on Trump and are prepared to sell him up the river to save themselves.
Clearly, this is excellent news for the savvy Fani Willis, who repeatedly proves that she is out for the jugular and is not to be toyed with — not now or ever.

Multiple plea deals are piling up to bring down Donald Trump.
The Hill: Former President Trump’s co-defendants in Georgia have begun splintering, with two lawyers key to Trump’s efforts to overturn the election agreeing to cooperate with prosecutors. Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis (D) late this week secured plea deals from Sidney Powell and Kenneth Chesebro, the highest-profile defendants to flip so far in the sprawling racketeering case. Both agreed to testify truthfully against their co-defendants, including Trump. Legal experts said they weren’t surprised by the deals, arguing they would increase the legal jeopardy facing other defendants and raise the pressure for them to also consider taking plea deals. “The real import of this plea is the signal it sends to the other defendants,” said Chris Mattei, a former federal prosecutor. “Number one, that your time is running out for you to cooperate, because as cooperators come in and plead guilty, the prosecution continues to build its case and may… Read more »
