Police Response: Black vs. White

For decades, African-American communities across the country have complained about how police respond to blacks versus how they respond to whites. Now, a new experiment has confirmed those concerns to be completely accurate.

“Open Carry” is a practice a lot of gun enthusiasts use to flaunt their 2nd Amendment right to carry a gun. Typically, open-carry gun toters are white, middle to lower class, with a penchant for weapons.

Police open carryIn the experiment, a white man was filmed walking down the street while LEGALLY carrying an AR-15 rifle.  Soon after, a police officer pulled up and politely questioned the white man, asking him to explain his intentions. When the white man explained he was merely exercising his legal right to openly carry a gun, the police officer exchanged a few more pleasantries with the man and then simply drove off.

In Part 2 of the experiment, a black man walked the streets while open carrying a gun, but was accompanied by a white friend.  In what’s being called “white insulation,” police treated the black man politely, simply because the white man walking with him provided a subconscious validation that the black man was OK.

However, Part 3 of the experiment was a completely different story.

A black man was then filmed walking alone down the street while LEGALLY carrying the same AR-15 rifle.  A flood of calls to 911 reported a black man with a gun, prompting an emergency response. When police arrived on the scene, there were no questions asked. Instead, the responding police officer (who was white) immediately pulled his own gun on the black man, ordering him to surrender.

“Get down on the street. Now!” the officer was heard shouting.  He then ordered the man’s wife (who was recording the incident) to get on the ground too. “I’m 7 months pregnant,” she replied, which seemed irrelevant to the cop, who forced her to the sidewalk.

Meanwhile, 3 squad cars and multiple police officers appeared on the scene, which ended with the black man being handcuffed while still laying on the ground.

Why was it OK for a white man to exercise his 2nd Amendment right to open carry a firearm, but not OK for a black man to do the same?  Also, why was it OK for a black man to open carry a firearm so long as he was accompanied by a white man, but not OK if he were walking alone?

Anyone with a brain already knows the true answer.
