POLITICAL (Mis)SPEAK
Politicians sure do say the darndest things. Here now is a list of some of the biggest political speak from the week:
“I’m blacker than Barack Obama. I shined shoes. I grew up in a five-room apartment. My father had a little laundromat in a black community not far from where we lived.
– former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich
“…a few years ago this guy [Obama] would have been getting us coffee”
– former President Bill Clinton to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy on why he shouldn’t support Obama
Barack Obama can win the presidency because he is “a light skinned African-American, with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.”
– Sen. Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in a book last year on then candidate Barack Obama
“We had NO domestic attacks under Bush. We had ONE under Obama.”
– former NY City Mayor Rudy Guiliani, forgetting (for once) about 9/11
“FOX News is announcing that former Alaska Governor and Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin has been added to their staff of contributors. Though she will not have a program of her own, Mrs. Palin will get to have her say on various, mostly political, topics.”
– the Sarah Palin camp on her new gig
Except for Sen. Reid's comment, the other comments noted were a combination of ignorant, UNintelligent, racist and STUPID rants spewed by some mighty desperate folks_smh. Re: Sen. Reid Was his comment a "politically incorrect" thing to say? Yep.But that doesn't change the Fact that most White Americans and _dare I say_ even a number of people of Color were more at ease voting for Obama (in part) because of those UNdeniable characteristics added to the fact that FIRST and foremost he presented as Highly intelligent and competent. In short: I agree with Reid's comment.
