Poll: WILL SANDY AFFECT THE ELECTION?

Spread The Love

Superstorm Sandy hijacked the news with its massive devastation.  But there’s still an election next week — which begs the question:  just how much devastation has Sandy caused in the selection of a president?

Photo opportunities of President Obama fully in command with NJ Gov. Chris Christie in recent days have likely gone a long way in reminding America of his leadership skills.  But there is a political downside here as well.

Despite earlier reports to the contrary, officials have announced that next week’s election will proceed as scheduled.  However, with critical damage and power outages in New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Virginia, voters could be hard pressed to get to the polls to vote for their man, if the polls are even able to be operational.

With miles upon miles of damage along the Jersey Shore, it’s nearly unfathomable to consider how a district with such desecration would be able to pull together to cast ballots — of why they’d even want to. But that concern is applicable to every other state affected by the storm.

Almost certainly, both the Obama and Romney camps have considered the pros and cons Sandy could have on the outcome of next week’s election.  Still, if voters are unable to get to the polls in certain areas, that could unpredictably sway a particular state toward a candidate the campaigns never anticipated.  Think of the shock if a state like New York ended up in the Romney column!
