Pope Tells Christians: ‘Stop Judging!’
Current Events
Since his rise to the papacy 6 months ago, Pope Francis has proven to be “not your average Pope.” He has shunned living in a huge palace, shunned being driven around in a chauffeur driven car in exchange for driving himself around, and even chosen to come out from behind the bullet proof glass bubble that protects him, just so he can be like Jesus and amongst the people. His actions have been seen as somewhat radical, but not as radical as his recent message to a worldwide flock of self-righteous Christians.
Last week in a shocking publication, Pope Francis remarked that the church has grown “obsessed” with abortion, gay marriage and contraception, has placed dogma before love, and put moral doctrines over serving the poor. Instead, he said it is time for the church to be inclusive instead of exclusive and provide a “home for all.”
“If a person is gay and seeks the Lord and is of good will, who am I to judge him?” the pope said during the summer. He recently added, “We have to find a new balance, otherwise even the moral edifice of the church is likely to fall like a house of cards, losing the freshness and fragrance of the Gospel.” He also addressed the role of women in the church and other issues Catholics have long been closed to discussing.
His words sent shock waves throughout Catholicism, as Christians have long subscribed to the theory that they were morally correct to shun and exclude homosexuals, those who practiced contraception and anyone else who held different beliefs. However, Pope Francis has chosen to remind Christians that Jesus was INCLUSIVE and used the church to pull IN those who were different, not to EXCLUDE them!

Religion is a very tricky subject to discuss, as participants hold very stringent beliefs in the name of God and are often completely closed to hearing any theory different from what they’ve been conditioned to think and believe. So, how do Catholics feel when they hear their esteemed leader tell them that their years of bigotry against homosexuals and others is completely wrong??
For a church with such closed thinking and for a leader with such radical “against the grain” thinking, Pope Francis may not be pope for very long!
