President Harris? The Democratic Dilemma

- is America prepared for a possible President Kamala Harris?

Spread The Love

President Biden and the Democrats have a problem — and it’s the increasing possibility of an unexpected future under President Harris.

Politics :
Joe Biden is running for a 2nd term and wants to remain President of the United States for 4 more years. Mr. Biden is also 80 years old, is reportedly experiencing mobility and cognitive issues, and, if re-elected, would be 82 on inauguration day in 2025. In fact, he’d be 86 on his last day in office.

President Harris

His reason for running (aside from fulfilling a near-lifelong goal of being president) is to defeat Donald Trump and prevent him from returning to the Oval Office. However, Americans are beginning to recognize that there are a plethora of possibilities that could turn Vice-President Kamala Harris into President Harris.

With Joe Biden set to turn 82 exactly 2 months before January 20, 2025 (inauguration day), it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that he may not make it through another 4 years in The White House. He could pass away while in office. He could come to terms with his cognitive decline and resign. His cabinet could come to terms with his cognitive decline and enact the 25th Amendment to remove him from office.

Interestingly, all roads and options lead to the identical end result: President Harris.

If President Biden were to pass away, resign, or be removed from office, the Constitution makes it very clear that the vice president would immediately elevate to the presidency. Interestingly, Democrats and the American public are beginning to pay close attention to that information and are discovering there isn’t much confidence in Kamala Harris and her abilities or preparedness to actually replace Mr. Biden as the president.

President Harris

Democrats are beginning to whisper.

“It has now gotten to the point where I have had a number of Democrats — including staunch supporters of the president — tell me it makes them ‘nervous,’ ‘uncomfortable,’ ‘sad’ or gives them a feeling of ‘foreboding’ anytime they watch President Biden speak in public, interact with guests or walk up or down the stairs to Air Force One,” said Douglas MacKinnon, a political and communications consultant.

Republicans are beginning to stoke the fire.

“I think we can be all clear and say, with a matter of fact, that if you vote for Joe Biden, you really are counting on a President Harris,” Republican presidential contender Nikki Halley said.  “Because the idea that he would make it until 86 years old is not something that I think is likely.”

If that wasn’t enough, the legal cases against Donald Trump could prevent him from either remaining in the race for the presidency or from serving as president (should he win in 2024). That would not only make Mr. Biden’s candidacy somewhat unnecessary (considering the belief that he’s the only Democrat who can beat Trump), but it could hand some other Republican the nomination — and the presidency simply by beating the aging Biden.

For their part, the Biden/Harris camp is fighting back.

President Harris

Kevin Munoz, spokesman for the Biden campaign, said Republicans are “resorting to the same tired, failed attacks on Vice President Harris” that they tried in past elections because they “can’t argue on the merits” of Biden’s record.

“Vice President Harris has been a tireless fighter for the American people, will continue to be a leading voice on the issues that matter most to American people, and hold MAGA Republicans accountable for their extreme positions on reproductive rights, health care, and our very democracy,” Munoz added.

With more than a year before voters return to the polls to elect a president, a lot can happen between now and then. Or, in other words, Mr. Biden may not necessarily be guaranteed the Democratic nomination despite his desire for an additional 4 years.

According to The Boston Globe, former Housing Secretary Julian Castro, Sen. Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Rep. Ro Khanna of California, and former New York governor Andrew Cuomo could all stage a surprise challenge to President Biden and seize the Democratic nomination in 2024.

Of course, Kamala Harris could also repair her poor image by 2024 and become a bonafide replacement for Mr. Biden (with his blessing) should it become necessary.

Are the fears about President Biden (and his ability to serve 4 more years) unwarranted? Is the negative reputation of Kamala Harris nothing more than a GOP dirty trick designed to denigrate the first female and person of color to serve as vice president of the United States? Or, should we all be shaking in our boots over the very real possibility of a President Harris?

Yep, we are in a bit of a quandary and honestly I have no clue as to how the Dems should handle it(?)

Clearly, Pres. Biden is affected by the natural process of aging (cognitively and physically). Frankly. I worry when I see him descending the steps on Air Force One!

But the truth is, Pres. Biden is still the only man who can beat Trump. Which brings us back to square one – a possible Kamala Harris presidency.

Mr.BD

I am right there with you on this one Truth.

Truthiz1

Btw, I strongly believe that Unless Trump is tried AND convicted in a Court of Law BEFORE the election he will be the Repubs nominee.

Mr.BD

True that.

Mr.BD

The only thing I can see happening is if Biden picks somebody else before the convention. Or if Dems pick a whole new ticket. Both of these ideas come with a lot of problems though.

Truthiz1

BD, I honestly don’t think Pres. Biden has any plans to replace Kamala with another VP. That move is too risky, especially, given how much the Dem party relies heavily on the Black female votes

On a Trump related note….

Apparently Repub elites are beginning to accept the fact that NONE of the other supposed candidates currently running can beat Trump, and that includes DeSantis.

Now to be fair – Chris Christie has Not the slightest interest in running for President right now. He’s actually on a mission to take down Trump. End of story. Full stop.

And I’ve said from the beginning that Nikki Haley is running to be Trump’s VP pick. The rest are mostly just and grifters. Scott is for real…maybe(?) Po’ fella.

Anyway, now 2 new names are being thrown out there. Gov Youngkin of VA and Gov Kemp of GA.

Noble

I for one don’t understand the disdain the vice president gets. I think she’d be just fine if she were to ever become president.

Truthiz1

I think you’re probably right. She would be “just fine” as the President and That’s the problem right there for Repubs. She’s a highly accomplished and competent Black woman who sits just one heartbeat away from becoming President!?!

Lol..She scares the heck out of Repubs!

As a Dem, I wish she came across as a little more genuine. But standing next to Trump and whoever he chooses as his VP, both she and Biden will do just fine!

Btw Noble, glad to see you’re continuing to share your voice!
