Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, it’s a different ball game. President Joe Biden has changed the game and dropped out of the 2024 presidential election.
Top News Today :
On Sunday afternoon, the political world was turned upside down with the news that President Joe Biden will not continue as a candidate for re-election. Despite his rather obvious poor health, slowed walk, inability to remember facts and the names of world leaders, and worried doubts among Democratic operatives that he appeared incapable of serving another 4 years as the leader of the free world, the news still came as a shock.
“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus all my energies on my duties as President for the remainder of my term,” Mr. Biden said in a letter posted on Twitter/X Sunday. He added that it is his intention to drop out of the race but not The White House, and to remain president for the remainder of his term.
In another tweet, the president gave his endorsement to Vice-President Kamala Harris as his successor.
“My very first decision as the party nominee in 2020 was to pick Kamala Harris as my Vice President. And it’s been the best decision I’ve made. Today I want to offer my full support and endorsement for Kamala to be the nominee of our party this year. Democrats — it’s time to come together and beat Trump. Let’s do this.”

The news was a huge shocker for the nation, but mostly for the Republican Party.
Nominating a presidential candidate other than Joe Biden has instantly made life incredibly difficult for Donald Trump. His team had been preparing to run against Mr. Biden’s age and his rapid mental decline. Suddenly, that strategy has been tossed out the window.
From The Atlantic:
Republicans I spoke with today, some of them still hungover from celebrating what felt to many like a victory-night celebration in Milwaukee, registered shock at the news of Biden’s departure. Party officials had left town believing the race was all but over. Now they were confronting the reality of reimagining a campaign — one that had been optimized, in every way, to defeat Biden — against a new and unknown challenger.
“So, we are forced to spend time and money on fighting Crooked Joe Biden, he polls badly after having a terrible debate, and quits the race,” a clearly peeved Trump wrote Sunday on his Truth Social Network. “Now we have to start all over again.”
Instead of basing his campaign on Biden being old and frail, Trump will now have to defend the GOP’s collective decision to support an end to Roe v. Wade and a woman’s right to choose. Additionally, Trump will have to look a formidable former prosecutor in the eye and defend the dozens of legal charges and cases against him. The debates will be the prosecutor versus the prosecuted.
On Sunday, Democrats raised a whopping $50 million in just the first few hours of Mr. Biden’s exit from the race — proving that the party is invigorated and back on track.
Now, no one’s talking about the Trump shooting. Now, no one’s talking about last week’s RNC convention. Now, Democrats are re-energized and everyone is talking about Kamala Harris and who her running mate might be. The momentum has shifted.
Immediately following the announcement, news sources mentioned potential Harris running mates, including Gov. Josh Shapiro of Pennsylvania, Gov. Roy Cooper of North Carolina, and Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, a former astronaut and the husband of Gabby Giffords.
They also discussed how much of a wasted pick GOP vice-presidential nominee JD Vance and his “over the top” conservatism may prove to be for Trump; how female and Black voters may soon flock toward Ms. Harris for her history-making candidacy; and how Trump will fare now that he is the oldest presidential candidate in US history against a much younger Black woman.
President Biden is currently at his home in Delaware isolating with COVID. He said he will give an Oval Office statement to the nation later this week when he’s feeling better.
In the meantime, Vice-President Harris has been busy working the phones, whipping up support among Democratic delegates, raising money, and preparing for the biggest moment of her life.
Stay tuned… The game just became incredibly interesting!
