President Obama
Passes The Torch To Hillary

The Democratic National Convention entered its 3rd day on Wednesday with the acceptance speech of vice-presidential nominee Tim Kaine.  However, the pinnacle of the night came from none other than the Commander-In-Chief himself…Barack Obama.

Politics
The evening began with fervor, highlighted by speeches from former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg and Vice-President Joe Biden.  Then Tim Kaine took the stage.

President Obama KAINE“For my friend Hillary Clinton, I humbly accept my party’s nomination to be vice president of the United States,” he said. “Can I be honest with you about something? I never expected to be here.”

Sen. Kaine then went on a tirade against Donald Trump.

“You know who I don’t trust? Donald Trump. The guy promises a lot. But you might have noticed, he has a habit of saying the same two words right after he makes his biggest promises: ‘believe me.'”

“It’s gonna be great — believe me! We’re gonna build a wall and make Mexico pay for it — believe me! We’re gonna destroy ISIS so fast — believe me! There’s nothing suspicious in my tax returns — believe me!” Kaine said, mimicking Trump and drawing laughter from the crowd. His “aww shucks” demeanor was in stark contrast to that of Joe Biden, who delivered a fiery address to the delegates.

Mayor Bloomberg’s appearance during primetime was a stroke of genius. He spoke not as a Democrat or a Republican, but as an Independent. He’s also a billionaire and a New Yorker, who was able to go tit-for-tat against Donald Trump.

“Trump says he wants to run the nation like he runs his business. God help us,” Bloomberg said, adding “I’m a New Yorker. I know a con when I see one.”

Politics
However, it was President Obama who stole the night with an impassioned endorsement of Hillary Clinton.

“I can say with confidence there has never been a man or a woman — not me, not Bill, nobody — more qualified than Hillary Clinton to serve as president of the United States of America,” President Obama said to a roaring crowd. Even Bill Clinton got a kick out of the line and nodded his head in agreement.

President Obama HILLARYPresident Obama then took his turn against Donald Trump.

“Trump is not really a plans guy,” Mr. Obama said. “He’s not really a facts guy, either. He calls himself a business guy, which is true, but I have to say, I know plenty of businessmen and women who’ve achieved success without leaving a trail of lawsuits, and unpaid workers, and people feeling like they got cheated.” Ouch!

Attacking Trump’s claims that he can “Make America Great Again” Mr. Obama said “America is already great,” rejecting Trump’s campaign slogan. “America is already strong. And I promise you, our strength, our greatness, does not depend on Donald Trump.”

His admonishment came on a day when Donald Trump encouraged the Russians to continue hacking the DNC, a remark many in the political world are calling an act of treason.

President Obama whipped up the crowd in a way that only he could then ended with a special surprise: Hillary Clinton made her first appearance at the convention and joined the president on the stage in an emotional thank you. Once political enemies, the 2 embraced in a symbolic passing of the torch as Democrats roared with excitement.

The photo-op of the first Black President of the United States standing arm-in-arm with the first woman who could become President of the United States was magical.

However, it was President Obama who stole the night with an impassioned endorsement of Hillary Clinton. […] DJ my good man, Truer words have never been spoken..errr…written…Lol. Good Lawd. What a speech! What a delivery! Simply Outstanding. We knew Pres. Obama would have to take it to another level if he was going to match…or surpass his wife's speech the other night. Well he Did.Not..Fail. He took it to a whole 'nother level. Seriously, I am SO proud of what Pres. Obama accomplished last night. I'm SO proud to be an American. And the truth is, I was so hyped after watching him give that speech…and then seeing Hillary join him on stage at the conclusion….it took me a minute to settle down and go to sleep…lol As you said DJ: The photo-op of the first Black President of the United States standing arm-in-arm with the first woman who could… Read more »

Text just now from a senior House Republican who gave me permission to tweet this: “We were supposed to make that sort of speech."

Erick Erickson:
"I started the evening saying for the first time I thought Trump could win. Then Obama spoke. I am so angry at my own party right now." .
