PRESIDENTIAL APPROVAL RIDING HIGH
After a wildly successful week on the world stage, America’s love affair with Barack Obama continues to ride high. This according to a recent New York Times/CBS News opinion poll, which finds Americans have grown more optimistic about the economy and the direction of the country in the 11 weeks since the president was inaugurated, suggesting that he is enjoying some success in his critical task of rebuilding the nation’s confidence.
`
Americans widely approve of President Obama’s handling of the economy, foreign policy, Iraq and Afghanistan, while a full two-thirds said they approve of his overall job performance. By contrast, only 31 percent of those polled had a favorable view of the Republican Party, the lowest in the 25 years the question has been asked in New York Times/CBS News polls. These numbers, coupled with reports of infighting and finger pointing within the GOP cannot be good news for a party in peril and in search of a strong leader and new identity.
`
Mr. Obama has been helped by the positive image he’s portrayed while visiting Europe this past week. He’s looked confident, he’s looked presidential, and he’s swiftly restored the world’s image of America after a highly negative and distrustful 8 years under former President George W. Bush. The First Lady has also added to the high approval ratings, with the world falling in love with her poise and grace. The Obama’s are the new “face” of America and their stature has made them instant royalty in the eyes of the world. That type of positive international image has had a substantial affect on how Americans back home view the first couple and how much confidence they have in Mr. Obama’s ability to lead.

NY TIMES/CBS NEWS opinion poll results

The truth iz, except for Nate Silver's site_FiveThirtyEight.com_I tend to ignore the results of most polls. Via mainstream_and cable_news media, Corporate CONS have had a field-day playing the American people for chumps with their BS poll info FOR YEARS. It's about controlling/manipulating the masses by creating and controlling the narrative. Not only did the New York Times et al support the UNjust invasion and occupation of Iraq_a nation that did NOTHING to provoke such a barbarous act. With the help of the New York Times et al the Bush/Cheney regime was given a very public platform to sell their LIES to the American people. The British people and the rest of the world recognized from jump that the so-called "evidence" against Iraq was pure BS.I don't trust any poll presented by the New York Times, CNN, Zogby, Rasmussen, RCP, etc. H*ll, I still can't get over the fact that _based on said polls McCain spent the last 6 weeks of the Presidential campaign camped out in Pennsylavania believing he was within approx "2-3% points" of Obama!?! He LOST by double-digits and any native Pennsylvanain (like ME) could have told him that he was being played by the news media. But he never asked_lol.Anyway. Having said all that: I believe that the majority of Americans do indeed Approve of the President's overall job performance THUS FAR.And THAT is very Important because it says something GOOD about the American people, as the majority of Americans come to grips with the REALITY of the sheer magnitude of the mess our country is in today_and what it's going to take to recover and forge a better future.
