Move over Dorothy and the Wizard of Oz. Pretend President Trump has cornered the fantasy market and occupied the land of make-believe.

Donald Trump is so obsessed with being president that he has stooped to pretending to still be president. Yes, Pretend President Trump just can’t accept the fact that he lost the 2020 election, so he is now staging events to make him appear as if he’s still the actual President of the United States.
Last week, Pretend President Trump traveled to Texas and held a news conference in front of his beloved border wall with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, Rep. Ronny Jackson (R-TX), former advisor Stephen Miller, former acting Secretary of Homeland Security Chad Wolf, and a host of others.
“We have to get that painted now. They have to paint it. Because if they don’t paint it, bad things are happening. I’m looking and it has to be painted. And the best color to paint it is black. Because if you paint it black, it’s so hot, nobody can even try to climb it,” Trump told the assembled crowd while pretending he still has any control over what happens with the still-unfinished wall.
“I would’ve finished it in two and a half months. It wouldn’t be rusting and rotting,” he continued. “It would be perfecto.”
Next, Pretend President Trump held a news conference at his New Jersey golf club that he meticulously staged to appear as if it were the actual White House — complete with a dozen flags, enormous white columns, an entourage of people standing behind him, and even a fake presidential “seal” on his podium. Trump used the event to announce that he is suing Facebook, Twitter, and Google after the companies suspended his accounts for spreading lies and fake news across the internet that he won the 2020 presidential election.
“If you say it long enough, hard enough, often enough, people will believe it,” Trump snapped regarding the disinformation campaign he believes is being waged against him. However, what ‘The Donald’ failed to realize is that his words completely gave away the blueprint he’s been using these past few months to condition people to believe he won an election he clearly lost.
The alternate-reality Pretend President Trump is using to make people believe he’s the actual president (instead of the real President Biden) has riled up his QAnon fanatics and MAGA minions, who are somehow under the impression that Trump will be reinstated to The White House in mid-August.
“He’s coming back,” an Ohio Trump supporter said of the notion that ‘The Donald’ will be president by Labor Day. When asked what will happen when that fantasy never occurs, the Ohio ReTrumplican suggested violence will ensue.
“We’re gonna be in a civil war because the militia will be taking over,” the supporter barked.
Late last week, the Justice Department and the FBI warned that Trump’s delusional claims of being reinstated to the White House could fuel more January 6th-type political violence from his supporters.
“Former President Trump continues to make false claims about the election, insinuate that he may be reinstalled in the near future as President without another election, and minimize the violent attack on the Capitol,” federal prosecutors said of the Trump fantasy. “Television networks continue to carry and report on those claims, with some actually giving credence to the false reporting.”
Interestingly, a stabilizing voice of reason came from a shockingly unexpected source, who told supporters it’s time to let go of the impossible belief that President Biden will be expelled and Donald Trump reinstated.
“I want people to be careful in what they believe. It’s going to be very difficult to overturn the 2020 election. And so, I’d hate for anyone to get their hopes up thinking that President Trump is going to be back in The White House in August because that’s not true. And I’m telling you as a member of Congress. That’s a very difficult thing to make happen,” QAnon fanatic and current congressional member Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene told a startled panel of Trump-flunkies on television.
Yes, hell must have frozen over for a right-wing zealot like Marjorie Taylor Greene to admit that the Trump presidential dream is over. However, it may take hell defrosting then refreezing all over again for Pretend President Trump and some of his most ardent sycophants to accept the obvious.
In a message to Donald Trump, CNN’s Jim Acosta said it best: “Comparing Trump to a clown is an insult to clowns. Please take your fake presidential seal and go play president somewhere else!”

And yet, CNN, MSNBC and other major new networks continue to cover that “clown” ad nauseam as if he is indeed still president.
They continually use that “clown” for rating$ and then feign being shocked and appalled by the guy. That industry has no shame anymore…and that’s the sad truth of it.
