Primary Election 2022 Winners And Losers
The much anticipated Democratic and Republican Primary Election 2022 was held on Tuesday. Check out the surprising list of winners and losers.
Politics :
As states across the country began counting Primary Election 2022 ballots, the theme of the night became excruciatingly clear: close, close contests. With so many close contests combined with millions of mail-in ballots still left to be calculated, several races will be decided over the coming days.
Still, the night provided several nail-biting moments.
On the Democratic side, at least 2 congressional contests were “edge-of-your-seat” shockers.
In Pennsylvania, progressive candidate Summer Lee held a surprising but narrow 534-point lead over the more established Democratic candidate for Congress, Steve Irwin (as of this writing).
In Oregon, Democrats faced an unexpected upset when Jamie McLeod-Skinner beat incumbent Rep. Kurt Schrader.
However, the biggest surprises of the night came on the Republican side of Primary Election 2022.
In Pennsylvania, hedgefund newcomer Dave McCormick held a slim lead late Tuesday night (as of this writing) over the Donald Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz. Another Trump-endorsed candidate, Kathy Barnette, finished a distant 3rd.
Still, that was not the bombshell story of the evening.
In North Carolina, embattled Republican incumbent and Donald Trump-endorsed Sen. Madison Cawthorn was defeated by challenger Chuck Edwards, a three-term state senator and business owner. Sen. Cawthorn called Edwards and conceded the contest late Tuesday night, putting the final nail in the coffin of his infamous political career.
Sen. Cawthorn, a wheelchair-bound, right-wing firebrand and the youngest freshman in Congress, was once seen as a rising star of the Republican Party. However, charges of insider trading, driving with a revoked license, attempting to bring a gun through airport security, as well as a “homo-erotic” video of him (allegedly jokingly) humping another man all helped contribute to Cawthorn’s public fall from grace.
In the end, the collective story here is that several Donald Trump-endorsed candidates did not sail to victory as many expected. Or, in other words, perhaps Trump doesn’t have the hold over the GOP he once thought he had.

Lol…had hoped you would post about this this morning DJ and you did NOT disappoint. Thank you!
I watched until about 11:30pm, when i went to bed, and McCormick still had a razor thin lead. However, at some time during the night/early morning Oz overtook McCormick and now he has a razor thin lead. There are still a few thousand more votes to be counted (mail-in and same-day).
Regular readers may recall I am a native Pennsylvanian (born and raised) and I still reside in this state so I am really finding ALL the chaos that’s going on within the PA Repub party right now quite amusing! I knew it was going to be a humdinger and I was right…lol
