Primary Election 2022 Winners And Losers

Spread The Love

The much anticipated Democratic and Republican Primary Election 2022 was held on Tuesday. Check out the surprising list of winners and losers.

Politics :
As states across the country began counting Primary Election 2022 ballots, the theme of the night became excruciatingly clear: close, close contests. With so many close contests combined with millions of mail-in ballots still left to be calculated, several races will be decided over the coming days.

Still, the night provided several nail-biting moments.

On the Democratic side, at least 2 congressional contests were “edge-of-your-seat” shockers.

In Pennsylvania, progressive candidate Summer Lee held a surprising but narrow 534-point lead over the more established Democratic candidate for Congress, Steve Irwin (as of this writing).

In Oregon, Democrats faced an unexpected upset when Jamie McLeod-Skinner beat incumbent Rep. Kurt Schrader.

However, the biggest surprises of the night came on the Republican side of Primary Election 2022.

In Pennsylvania, hedgefund newcomer Dave McCormick held a slim lead late Tuesday night (as of this writing) over the Donald Trump-endorsed Dr. Mehmet Oz. Another Trump-endorsed candidate, Kathy Barnette, finished a distant 3rd.

Still, that was not the bombshell story of the evening.

In North Carolina, embattled Republican incumbent and Donald Trump-endorsed Sen. Madison Cawthorn was defeated by challenger Chuck Edwards, a three-term state senator and business owner. Sen. Cawthorn called Edwards and conceded the contest late Tuesday night, putting the final nail in the coffin of his infamous political career.

Sen. Cawthorn, a wheelchair-bound, right-wing firebrand and the youngest freshman in Congress, was once seen as a rising star of the Republican Party. However, charges of insider trading, driving with a revoked license, attempting to bring a gun through airport security, as well as a “homo-erotic” video of him (allegedly jokingly) humping another man all helped contribute to Cawthorn’s public fall from grace.

In the end, the collective story here is that several Donald Trump-endorsed candidates did not sail to victory as many expected. Or, in other words, perhaps Trump doesn’t have the hold over the GOP he once thought he had.

Lol…had hoped you would post about this this morning DJ and you did NOT disappoint. Thank you!

I watched until about 11:30pm, when i went to bed, and McCormick still had a razor thin lead. However, at some time during the night/early morning Oz overtook McCormick and now he has a razor thin lead. There are still a few thousand more votes to be counted (mail-in and same-day).

Regular readers may recall I am a native Pennsylvanian (born and raised) and I still reside in this state so I am really finding ALL the chaos that’s going on within the PA Repub party right now quite amusing! I knew it was going to be a humdinger and I was right…lol

Kathy truly IS a piece of work! A genuine Black reich-winger who really isn’t afraid to *check* Trump. Whenever he went at her she went right back at him and she wasn’t shy about it. At the end of the day she’s still a Black woman and most of Us DON’T scare so easily!…lol. But I digress.

She’s caused PA “establishment Repubs” (whatever that means anymore) to have a collective nervous breakdown! She ended up pulling a lot of votes from both Oz and McCormick, totaling 325,835 (+24.8%).

Lol…”his infamous political career.” Yes, that about sums it up. Talk about a clown…smh!

The thing with Trump reich-wingers, in particular, is that they really do have audacity. Absolutely NO shame and very little intelligence. But an abundance of audacity (as in “arrogant disregard”) for anything “normal” especially restraints. And of course, Cawthorn is a Trump kinda guy!

Ex-Trump Official Quits GOP, Says Republican Party Is Now A Threat To America

[A former Homeland Security official in the Trump administration who later turned into one of the former president’s critics has quit the Republican Party, saying the GOP can’t be saved. Miles Taylor, who was the agency’s deputy chief of staff and then chief of staff from 2017 to 2019, wrote on Twitter:

“I’m done. I no longer believe the Republican Party can be saved. The vitriolic rhetoric is inspiring violent radicals. I’m quitting the GOP. And I hope more do the same.”

Taylor also linked to an editorial he wrote for NBC News:

“In the wake of the mass shooting in Buffalo on Saturday, it’s become glaringly obvious that my party no longer represents conservative values but in fact poses a threat to them — and to America,” he wrote. ] – MSN News May 18, 2021

Mr.BD

It looks like Trump did not do like he wanted to last night but he still he has a lot of pull in the party. The race I could not help but laugh about is Madison Cawthorne. What a joke he turned out to be.

And now Repubs are really losing it over Mastriano’s victory in my state…Lol  “Mastriano’s victory in Pennsylvania: A bipartisan disaster” [Republicans are mostly to blame, of course, since they’re the ones who nominated him and enabled him. (More on that below.) But Democrats had a hand in last night’s fiasco too, believe it or not.   Mastriano wasn’t the only “stop the steal” goon who won yesterday. Ted Budd, who was also endorsed by Trump, prevailed easily in the North Carolina Republican primary and both Mehmet Oz and Dave McCormick in Pennsylvania made assorted noises about doubting the 2020 results in their state. But Mastriano had distinguished himself by his zeal.  {He} was the only Pennsylvania legislator who went to Washington on January 6, the Inquirer notes, but eight of the state’s nine Republicans in Congress voted against certifying Biden’s victory that day and many other state legislators signed a letter calling for… Read more »
