Pro-Life Should Mean Pro Gun Control
For years, we’ve heard Republicans shout to the mountaintops how much they are pro-life. However, why does their pro-life stance only apply to unborn life and not to already existing life?

Republicans and flag-waving conservatives are quick to preach how important it is to be pro-life. Yet they are also quick to not give a damn about the hundreds of victims of gun violence every year, or those who are sentenced to the death penalty. If life is so sacred, shouldn’t that protection apply to ALL life, or does that protection end the moment an infant exits the womb?
On a recent episode of “The Daily Show,” new host Trevor Noah said it best:
“If pro-lifers would just redirect their powers toward gun violence, the amount of lives they could save would reach superhero levels. They just need to have a superhero’s total dedication to life. Because right now, they’re more like comic book collectors. Human life only holds value until you take it out of the package, and then it’s worth nothing.”
Noah’s words were critical. Pro-life means just that — not pro-life for fetuses only. So, it seems Republicans are being blatantly hypocritical and no one is calling them on it.
The Republican controlled congress has threatened to completely shut down the US government over the funding of Planned Parenthood — yet they won’t even whisper a syllable about how gun control may have prevented the killings last week in Oregon, or at the Charleston church shooting, or of little children at Sandy Hook Elementary. No! They’d rather spew hot air about how “Pro-life” they are, when it’s all just a bunch of baloney!
Republican presidential hopeful Carly Fiorina is a prime candidate. In a statement from earlier this year touting her pro-life stance, Fiorina said:
“I am pro-life, and the majority of Americans are coming around. I think science is proving us right every day. A woman who faces a terrible choice deserves our empathy always and our support, not on our judgment, not our condemnation. When we can successfully perform surgery in utero at less than five months, sounds like a life to me.”
When asked about lives being taken every single day due to gun violence, Fiorina said nothing!
The truth is, 97,000 people were shot in the United States in 2012. In fact, more than 250 people are shot each and every day. Imagine the principles the GOP could display with their so-called pro-life stance if they stood up for saving people after they were born!?! The possibilities could be endless, and the hypocrisy villain would be dead.

DJ you've done it again. Hit the ball right outta the park! Such hypocritical zealots have absolutely NO shame in proclaiming themselves to be all kinds of righteous folk while knowing d*mn well they're full of it. I call it the Obvious full-of-isht "Elephant* in the room, beginning with the fact that they AREN'T actually Pro-life. They are Pro-FETUS (as you rightly pointed out). Pro-FETUS and Pro-GUNS. Lots and lots of Guns…for Anybody and Everybody who wants Guns, regardless of the person's intellectual or psychological status. And dare I say….only in the twisted minds of such zealots is such a perversion of the 2nd Amendment viewed as some noble cause – fighting for to protect "freedom" and "liberty" while THEIR children (even little children) and loved-ones lay severely injured OR DEAD, in schools and other public places across America, slaughtered by crazed paranoid gun-nuts who stockpile as many assault weapons… Read more »
