Professions That Will Soon Cease To Exist
Will the professions we all know and love today actually be around much longer?
Technology :
Modern technology has been a godsend for society. However, it’s been the death knell for certain professions. Thanks to artificial intelligence, many jobs handled by actual people are simply no longer needed.
Let’s take a look at the Top 10 jobs that are on the clock and soon to be extinct:
10.) Telemarketers
Legit telemarketers trying to sell legitimate things over the phone. Does it still exist? I can’t remember the last time I got a cold call from an actual company trying to sell a product.
9.) Animators
A.I. will be able to draw everything in the very near future, making a room full of human artists obsolete.
8.) Stenographers
With voice recognition technology almost perfect these days, court stenographers and others in this field will soon no longer be needed.
7.) Weather Reporters
Who needs to watch an actual person standing in front of a map pointing at things? A visually appealing graphic along with an A.I. voice will soon be good enough for the televised weather report.
6.) Customer Service
Frontier Airlines has already completely ended its customer service telephone number and sadly, other businesses will soon follow. According to certain companies, they no longer need people sitting at a bank of telephones when texting an A.I. robot with simple questions can almost always get the job done.
5.) Drive-thru workers/Cashiers
Many years ago, banks learned how to dispense the correct amount of cash without a human being involved. Fast food restaurants will soon go this route by using robots in place of humans. As for cashiers, Walmart and others are already using us to do our own checkout process. It’s only going to grow from here.
4.) Movie Theater employees
Let’s be frank, movie theaters are on life support and will soon go the route of the drive-in movie theater. That means movie theater employees should probably start looking for work ASAP.
3.) Travel Agents
When’s the last time you actually used a travel agent (and paid them a fee) instead of simply doing almost everything they do by just going online yourself?
2.) Bank Tellers
Have you noticed that banks are gradually closing branches in your neighborhood? That’s because live tellers behind a window are becoming unnecessary. You can get cash or make a deposit at an ATM. You can even apply for a loan, credit card, mortgage, etc. online. So, expect your favorite bank and bank teller to go away sooner than later.
1.) Taxi Drivers
Thanks to Uber and Lyft, the days of standing on the street hoping to coax a driver into stopping for you are done. The yellow cab will soon be about as necessary as a VCR.

Top 10 professions that are on the way out.
Modern technology has been a godsend for society. However, it’s been the death knell for certain professions. Thanks to artificial intelligence, many jobs handled by actual people are simply no longer needed. […] – DJ
In my opinion, modern technology has certainly been a “godsend” for ruthless or heartless capitalists. And yes, for most of society (generally speaking) depending on who you ask and one’s on point of view.
But it’s also been a nightmare, in so many ways, for society in general and for millions upon millions of individual Americans and “blue-collar” and other working class families. Beginning with the precise reasons highlighted in DJ’s post. It has put millions of people out of work and will continue to do so!
To say nothing of the psychological toll it’s had on millions of Americans and their families at all levels of the working class and poor socioeconomic strata.
