Leaders and ordinary citizens from around the world are mourning Queen Elizabeth II of England following her death on Thursday.

Queen Elizabeth II began her reign on February 6, 1952, and served 70 years and 214 days until her death. She officiated every Prime Minister of England from Winston Churchill during the 1950s to the newest premier, Liz Truss, who the queen appointed and greeted only 2 days before passing away.
She led a family that witnessed the fairytale marriage of Prince Charles to Diana Spencer, the shocking and untimely death of Princess Diana due to an automobile crash, the marriage of Prince William to Kate Middleton, the marriage of her son Prince Charles to divorcee’ Camilla Parker Bowles, the pedophilia scandal of her son Prince Andrew, the marriage of grandson Prince Harry to biracial American actress Meghan Markle, the decision by Prince Harry to leave the royal family and his duties behind, the televised Oprah Winfrey interview of Prince Harry and his wife discussing racism within the royal family, and more.
Now, condolences are flooding in from all over the world in honor and remembrance of Queen Elizabeth.
“Today, the thoughts and prayers of people all across the United States are with the people of the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth in their grief,” President and Mrs. Biden said in a statement. “We send our deepest condolences to the Royal Family, who are not only mourning their Queen, but their dear mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her legacy will loom large in the pages of British history, and in the story of our world.”
“The Queen was a constant presence in our lives — and her service to Canadians will forever remain an important part of our country’s history,” said Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. “As we look back at her life and her reign that spanned so many decades, Canadians will always remember and cherish Her Majesty’s wisdom, compassion, and warmth.”
“The passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who has led Britain through a tumultuous global period, is not just a major loss for the citizens of the UK but for the international community,” said Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
“It is with deep sadness that we learned of the death of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II,” tweeted Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. “On behalf of the people, we extend sincere condolences to the @RoyalFamily, the entire United Kingdom and the Commonwealth over this irreparable loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.”
The funeral for Queen Elizabeth will be a 10-day affair and will include ceremonial gun salutes, a national minute of silence, and more. Prince Charles is the heir to the throne and will now be known as King Charles III — which now leaves Prince William as the next heir to become king.
Queen Elizabeth was 96.
