QUEEN Michelle Obama Meets Parker Curry
When Jessica Curry took her daughter, Parker, to the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery, she had no idea her 2-year-old would dub a portrait of a former first lady QUEEN MICHELLE OBAMA!
Current Events
It’s the photo seen around the world. Parker Curry staring in awe and admiring the official portrait of Michelle Obama. The photo was special because it depicted the 2-year-old little African-American girl seeing the image of a first lady who looked like her.
During a television appearance, Parker was asked what she saw when she looked at the portrait.
“A Queen,” the girl adorably replied. “I saw QUEEN Michelle Obama.”
Well, Mrs. Obama got wind of little Parker’s admiration and invited the Curry family to her Washington office for what eventually turned into an impromptu dance party.
Later, Mrs. Obama tweeted a special note to the little girl.
“Parker, I’m so glad I had the chance to meet you today (and for the dance party)! Keep on dreaming big for yourself…and maybe one day I’ll proudly look up at a portrait of you,” she wrote.

Jessica Curry called their meeting with Mrs. Obama a “surreal moment” and said they both left feeling as if they were on a cloud.
“It was amazing,” Curry said. “She’s really down to earth, really sweet. We had a good time talking to her. Her and Parker chatted and they hung out and Parker got her out of her shoes and got her up and dancing.”
Jessica Curry added that she hopes the former first lady’s portrait will continue to inspire other children, like her daughter.
“Hopefully our visit will inspire other parents and other moms to take theirs kids to museums,” Curry said.
The “royalty” moment with Mrs. Obama is reminiscent of the time little Jacob Philadelphia wanted to touch the hair of then President Barack Obama, because their hair looked the same.

THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!
Now see….DJ….you’re messing with me..lol…smh!
I sit here with tears in my eyes like it’s the first time I’ve seen this picture. It’s Not.
But I can’t help it. That little girl represents so many little girls of Color, especially little Black girls and my heart is so touched by it.
They say “a picture is worth a thousand words.” That picture is so incredibly Beautiful and Moving and Powerful…there are NO words that even comes close to adequately describing it.
Thank you for sharing it!
