Racism Is Alive And Well In America
If anyone believes racism in America is a thing of the past, they are delusional! One look at recent events proves that racism in America is very much alive and well.
Current Events
Consider the recent situation at the University of Missouri, where African-American students successfully ousted university president Tim Wolfe for ignoring faltering race relations on campus. In fact, the word “faltering” is not even accurate in describing what was really going on in Missouri.
Racism was reportedly rampant on the Columbia campus of the University of Missouri and much worse than the general public knew. In addition to multiple students being routinely called the “N” word while on campus, black students were also well aware of public areas on campus that were simply off-limits to black students — particularly at night. Is this the type of environment students should be subjected to in 2015 on a state-run university campus? Absolutely not!
Then, soon after Tim Wolfe tendered his resignation, the University of Missouri went on high alert after “terrorist threats” were made against African-American students following weeks of campus demonstrations denouncing racism.
Using the anonymous social media app Yik Yak, someone threatened to shoot every black person they saw on Wednesday. Others slung racial epithets at black students as they drove around campus, and a group of men walking with bandannas covering their faces yelled racial slurs at black students.
Current Events
David Murangwa, a senior who is black, said he felt “a little paranoid because of the threats,” but saw no point in staying home. “This isn’t something that’s going to go away tomorrow,” he said, “and with everything that we’ve accomplished in the past few days, this is the time we should be here on campus.”
Christina Oyelola, a junior who is also black, decided to go to her job as an assistant in Jesse Hall, the university’s main administrative building, though her only class of the day was canceled. “I got a lot of texts from friends saying ‘Be careful,’” she said.
Hunter M. Park, who is white and a sophomore at the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, was arrested for making the online threats and was taken to the Boone County Jail in Columbia, where he is being held pending a hearing.
Then in Virginia, 2 white supremacists were arrested for plotting to bomb black churches and synagogues as part of a race and hate war.
Robert Curtis Doyle and Ronald Beasley Chaney III were arrested Sunday as part of an undercover FBI operation in which an agent posed as an illegal arms dealer selling weapons and explosives to the 2 men. A 3rd man, Charles Daniel Halderman, was also arrested for planning to help Doyle and Chaney rob and kill a silver-jewelry dealer as part of their extremist beliefs.
According to the FBI, Doyle was planning to meet with other extremists at his home “to discuss acting out in furtherance of their extremist beliefs by shooting or bombing the occupants of black churches and Jewish synagogues, conducting acts of violence against persons of the Jewish faith and doing harm to a gun store owner in the state of Oklahoma.” Hmmm…
Think racism in America is dead? Think again!
Hey DJ how about the Apple store in Australia that wouldn't let some black high school students in the store because they thought they might steal something. I know it's not America but it just shows how much racism there is all over.
