RACIST ANTI-VOTER TRICKS GEARING UP

Conservatives are so hell bent on kicking America’s first black president out of office, that they are already gearing up with some Jim Crow-style tricks to assure that Barack Obama retires after only one term.

It’s an old trick with a new twist. One such example comes from the state of Tennessee, which recently changed its voting requirements in preparation for the 2012 election.  All Tennessee voters are now required to obtain a new voter ID.  But the requirements to get the new voter ID card are stringent for some, particularly African-Americans, who voted for Barack Obama in record numbers in 2008.

Earlier this week, Tennessee denied Dorothy Cooper, a 96 year-old African-American, the new voter ID she is required to have in order to vote at her polling place.  The reason for the denial: she was unable to produce her original marriage certificate from decades ago.  Cooper is on the books as having voted in every single election except one since she became eligible to vote, including many elections during the Jim Crow Era.  But in 2012, she could be denied the right because of Tennessee’s “new law.”  Hmmm…

In an MSNBC interview with Al Sharpton, Cooper explained that Tennessee’s new voter suppression law did more to keep her from voting than anything she experienced during Jim Crow. “I haven’t had any problems at all until this time,” Cooper said.  “This is the only time that I’ve had problems.”  She added: “I never thought it would be like this.  Ever!”

The new Tennessee law could end up disenfranchising 500,000 residents from their legal right to vote. And other “dirty tricks” to keep voters away from the polls are already gearing up in Kansas, Colorado and Florida.  Sound familiar?

So if you thought the dirty tricks in the 2000 election between Al Gore and George W. Bush were something, you ain’t seen nothing yet!  The 2012 election is gonna get ugly and will almost certainly be about race.  Stay informed.  Stay prepared.  Stay tuned!
