REMEMBERING GEORGE McGOVERN

Spread The Love

George Stanley McGovern, the staunch liberal who served South Dakota in the U.S. House and Senate for more than 20 years and who was the Democratic Party nominee for president in 1972, died Sunday morning.

In a statement, his family said:

“Our wonderful father, George McGovern, passed away peacefully at the Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD, surrounded by our family and life-long friends. We are blessed to know that our father lived a long, successful and productive life advocating for the hungry, being a progressive voice for millions and fighting for peace. He continued giving speeches, writing and advising all the way up to and past his 90th birthday, which he celebrated this summer.”

George McGovern was 90.

Truthizz

Watched a bit of his history on CNN yesterday and I have to say..his "political flaws" notwithstanding, I was struck by the following facts. He was:

1. The son of a Repub preacher.

2. A very outspoken opponent to the Vietnam War

3. A tireless leader in the fight against hunger and poverty

4. A proud supporter of the Civil Rights Movement and Equal Rights

In other words, he was MORE than a politician. He actually gave a d*mn about his fellow man.

May he Rest. In. Peace.

Mr. BD
