Remembering ‘Gilligan’s’ Professor
Russell Johnson, best known as the wise and crafty Professor in the 1960s TV sitcom “Gilligan’s Island,” died unexpectedly last Thursday.

e Entertainment
Baby boomers will remember Johnson as the iconic Professor Roy Hinkley, whose scientific smarts turned coconuts, twigs and vine into huts, cars and even makeshift ways to get the castaways off the island — that is until Gilligan’s bumbling always ruined everything.

Johnson died last Thursday at his home in Washington, with his wife, Connie and their daughter, Kimberly, at his side.  Johnson is also survived by a stepson, Court, as well as a grandson.

e Entertainment
Johnson worked up until his death, connecting with fans and signing autographs at public appearances over the holidays, his agent, Mike Eisenstadt said.  He was “just a positive and nice guy who always treated people with respect,” Eisenstadt added.

Russell Johnson was 89.
