Remembering “Tony Soprano”
James Gandolfini, the actor who played the infamous mob boss “Tony Soprano” on the long running HBO series THE SOPRANOS, has died.
Gandolfini was vacationing in Italy and was scheduled to make an appearance at the Taormina Film Fest in Sicily later this week, when he reportedly suffered a heart attack.
“It is with immense sorrow that we report our client, James Gandolfini. passed away today while on holiday in Rome, Italy,” Gandolfini’s managers, Mark Armstrong and Nancy Sanders said in a joint statement. “Our hearts are shattered and we will miss him deeply. He and his family were part of our family for many years and we are all grieving.”
James Gandolfini won 3 Emmy’s for his portrayal of Tony Soprano during its very successful 1999 to 2007 run. He was 51.
