Rep George Santos Faces Backlash
Rep. George Santos — AKA the GOP’s new liar-in-chief — is having one hell of a bad week and is facing a ton of backlash to resign ASAP.
Politics :
Capitol Hill’s newest congressman, Republican Rep. George Santos, lied his way into winning his US House seat by completely misrepresenting his education, work history, and other vital info that fraudulently made him appear attractive to those who eventually voted for him. Now, Santos is getting a vote of no confidence almost everywhere he turns.
On Wednesday, political officials within his district, top party officials, as well as more than a dozen Republican officials in New York State (including 4 recently elected congressmen) called on Rep. George Santos to resign immediately.
According to The New York Times, Nassau County party chairman, Joseph G. Cairo Jr., called the Santos campaign one of “deceit, lies, fabrication” that should have never been allowed to happen.
“He’s disgraced the House of Representatives, and we do not consider him one of our congresspeople,” Mr. Cairo said during a news conference. “Today, on behalf of the Nassau County Republican Committee, I am calling for his immediate resignation.”
Cairo added: “He deceived voters. His lies were not mere fibs. He disgraced the House of Representatives … He’s not welcome here at Republican headquarters.”
Rep. Anthony D’Esposito, who represents a neighboring district, said Santos has so deeply lost the faith of voters on Long Island that he did “not have the ability” to adequately serve in the House of Representatives.
Only hours later, Rep. Nick LaLota, who also represents parts of Long Island; Nick Langworthy, the state Republican chair whose district is in New York’s rural Southern Tier; and Brandon Williams, whose district covers an area near Syracuse also joined the chorus of those demanding Santos to step down.
If that wasn’t enough, when reporters asked if Santos should be seated on any top House committees, newly elected Speaker Kevin McCarthy answered with an emphatic “No!”
During a heated Twitter exchange between Rep. George Santos and former Republican Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois (who is now a political contributor on CNN), the distaste for the lying congressman boiled over.
Kinzinger called Santos a “fraud” and told him it was time to resign. However, Santos responded curtly by telling Kinzinger to go on CNN and “cry about it.”
“I was elected to serve the people of #NY03 not the party & politicians, I remain committed to doing that and regret to hear that local officials refuse to work with my office to deliver results to keep our community safe and lower the cost of living. I will NOT resign!” Santos barked.
In response to being told to go “cry about it,” Kinzinger one-upped Santos by telling him: “Cries are better than lies, FRAUD!”

Interestingly, at least one person in America doesn’t want Rep. George Santos to resign. That person is former Bill Clinton campaign manager and famed Democratic political operative James Carville.
“I think he is just a perfect instrument to expose the rot that is the modern Republican Party,” Carville said during an appearance this week on MSNBC. “Just use him as a political piñata and just keep hitting it and hitting it and hitting it. And keep asking Republicans, ‘Let’s see a passport. What about this? What about that?’”
The politically savvy Carville concluded by saying “I think he’s more valuable there than he is gone. I really do.”
At least one Santos campaign insider believes it’s all downhill from here for the new congressman.
“Lying on your resume is one thing,” the operative said. “But I think George is going to be perp walked out of a building because of this financial mess.”

I absolutely agree with most of what James Carville said.
And I hope Carville is right…that Santos is “more valuable there than he is gone.“
