REPUBLICAN RACISM
The GOP has gone to great lengths to try and show black faces among a sea of white faces at the Republican National Convention. But what they hope you don’t hear about is a racial event that could set their minority recruitment efforts back to square one.
On Tuesday, 2 people were ejected from the convention floor when they threw peanuts at an African-American camera woman working with CNN, saying “this is how we feed animals.”
“CNN can confirm there was an incident directed at an employee inside the Tampa Bay Times Forum” the network said yesterday. “CNN worked with convention officials to address this matter and will have no further comment.”
Several witnesses observed the exchange and convention security personnel immediately removed the 2 delegates from the forum. “Two attendees tonight exhibited deplorable behavior. Their conduct was inexcusable and unacceptable. This kind of behavior will not be tolerated,” convention organizers said.
With only 2 months to go before the general election, this is certainly not the type of incident Mitt Romney or the Republican Party wants lingering over their heads. The GOP has long been considered the “party of white men” and has struggled to attract African American and Hispanic voters. This sort of incident only plays directly into the concept that the Republican Party attracts and appeals to racists and is not for minorities.
That RACIST woman holding her sign is the poster-child for the Republican Party going back, at least, to Nixon. And quite frankly I think it's way past time for Republicans….and even some Dems who are closet RACISTS…to come out into the light. The truth is, if I have to deal with a RACIST, this woman is the kind I'd rather face. She's OUT in the open. Her ignorance and Hatred are on full-display for ALL the world to see. I know where I stand with her. I don't have to wonder. She is Nixon's Southern Strategy is FULL effect and a PERFECT representation of today's GOP.
WashPost: "As Republican convention emphasizes diversity, racial incidents intrude"<span></span>TAMPA — From the convention stage here, the Republican Party has tried to highlight its diversity, giving prime speaking slots to Latinos and blacks who have emphasized their party’s economic appeal to all Americans. But they have delivered those speeches to a convention hall filled overwhelmingly with white faces, an awkward contrast that has been made more uncomfortable this week by a series of racial headaches that have intruded on the party’s efforts to project a new level of inclusiveness. The tensions come amid a debate within the GOP on how best to lure new voters. The nation’s shifting demographics have caused some Republican leaders to worry not only about the party’s future but about winning in November, particularly in key swing states such as Virginia and Nevada."The demographics race we’re losing badly,” said Sen. Lindsey O. <span><span><span>Quote for the Day <span>"Aside from a few, rare tokens, there is no "diversity" in the Republican party. The have transformed themselves into a party of angry old white men, who just keep repeating the same fears and hateful lies to each other. The one fear that is accurate is that they are losing, and as they die off so will the party they have perverted into a caricature of themselves. "People Think We've Gone Further Than We Have"Patricia Carroll, the CNN camerawoman who was assaulted with peanuts and called an animal by two attendees at the Republican National Convention, told Journal-isms on Thursday that "I hate that it happened, but I'm not surprised at all."Carroll, who agreed to be named for the first time, said she does not want her situation to be used for political advantage. "This situation could happen to me at the Democratic convention or standing on the street corner. Racism is a global issue," she said by telephone from Tampa.Carroll said no one took the names of the attendees who threw peanuts at her Tuesday on the convention floor and told her, "This is what we feed animals." She alerted fellow camera operators, producers and CNN security. The head of the delegation — she was not certain of the state — told her the perpetrators must have been alternates, not delegates. But Carroll, 34, said that as an Alabama native, she was not surprised. "This is Florida, and I'm from the Deep South," she said. "You come to places like this, you can count the black people on your hand. They see us doing things they don't think I should do."Carroll noted of the Republican convention, "There are not that many black women there."She said she wanted to thank CNN, which "has been behind me 100 percent." Although she was stationed on the floor next to Fox News, the perpetrators "didn't know what I was doing. I happened to be standing there," near one of the delegations."I can't change these people's hearts and minds," Carroll added. "No, it doesn't feel good. But I know who I am. I'm a proud black woman. A lot of black people are upset. This should be a wake-up call to black people. . . People were living in euphoria for a while. People think we're gone further than we have."Read: http://mije.org/richardprince/cnn-camerawoman-not…
When I first heard about this it made me mad, then I wasn't surprised. One look around that convention at all those grinning black idiots, looking just like that cartoon above. I bet they didn't even know what happened or cared. Yeah I know racism is everywhere, but it looks like its all under one roof in Tampa.
goin with bd here. not even surprised
