Republican Roundup: Holiday Edition
If you’ve been wondering what’s been going on in GOP/MAGA-land, then you’re in luck. It’s time for the Republican Roundup: Holiday Edition and a recap of all the madcap madness going on inside America’s Grand Ol’ Party.
Politics :
No offense to all Republicans, but the GOP continues to present itself as a “special” group capable of bizarre acts and unusual thought processes. So, let’s take a closer look at a few of the most recent and newsworthy acts in this Republican Roundup: Holiday Edition.
TIM SCOTT ENDS IT ALL
Oh, say it ain’t so!
Yes, you’ve already heard the reports. GOP Sen. Tim Scott of South Carolina announced earlier this week that he was ending his candidacy for the GOP nomination to become President of the United States.
“I love America more today than I did on May 22nd. But when I go back to Iowa, it will not be as a presidential candidate. I am suspending my campaign,” Scott said Sunday on Fox News.
Interestingly, word of Scott’s stalled campaign was not his biggest news of the week. The Court of Public Opinion was more concerned with Mindy Noce, the alleged “girlfriend” the 58-year-old lifetime bachelor and self-proclaimed virgin paraded in front of the world during the recent GOP debate.
Since Scott has never been seen with or romantically linked to a woman or anyone in his more than 5 decades of life, social media had a hard time believing the Scott-Noce romance was the real thing. In fact, one X/Twitter user said Scott erred in presenting his “girlfriend” only a day before the actor’s strike ended — and that he could have gotten a professional, more experienced actress to play the part if he had only waited a day. WOMP! WOMP!
McCARTHY vs BURCHETT
Tempers were apparently flaring on Tuesday on Capitol Hill after a Republican congressman accused former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy of purposely elbowing him in the kidneys.
GOP Rep. Tim Burchett of Tennessee said he was walking past McCarthy in a crowded hallway inside the Capitol when the former speaker gave him a sharp elbow to the gut. Burchett immediately took offense to the low blow and accused McCarthy of attempting physical revenge after Burchett helped oust McCarthy as House Speaker.
“Hey Kevin, why did you walk behind me and elbow me in the back?” Burchett yelled at McCarthy, who was being interviewed by the press. “You have no guts.”
“I didn’t do that,” McCarthy replied laughing. “Oh my God.”
“You are so pathetic,” Burchett responded.
“Thank you, Tim,” McCarthy said with a smirk, making most believe that the McCarthy revenge tour had finally just begun.
MULLIN PLAYGROUND FIGHT?
GOP Sen. Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma may have been inside a formal Senate hearing on Tuesday, but in his mind, he was on the playground fixing for a fight.
International Brotherhood of Teamsters President Sean O’Brien was testifying before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee on Tuesday when he got into a verbal altercation with Republicans. However, Sen. Mullin, who is a former mixed martial arts fighter, immediately tossed all decorum aside and challenged O’Brien to settle their disagreement with fists right then and there.
The dispute began when Mullin abandoned his discussion of “right to work” states like Oklahoma (which are inhospitable to labor unions) and instead, launched a personal attack by reading aloud from tweets O’Brien made following a June hearing on Capitol Hill.
In the tweets, O’Brien called Mullin (whose personal fortune runs into the tens of millions) a “clown” and a “fraud” who “pretends like he’s self-made.”
“In reality, [you’re] just a clown & fraud. Always has been, always will be. Quit the tough guy act in these Senate hearings. You know where to find me. Anyplace, Anytime cowboy,” O’Brien tweeted in June.
Addressing O’Brien from his seat at the committee table, Mullin said, “Sir, this is a time. This is a place. You want to run your mouth, we can be 2 consenting adults, we can finish it here.”
“OK, that’s fine. Perfect,” O’Brien fired back from the witness table.
“You want to do it now?” Mullin asked. “Stand your butt up then.”
O’Brien, a fourth-generation Teamster, replied, “You stand your butt up, big guy.”
That’s when elder statesman Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont intervened by tapping his gavel.
“Hold it. No, no, no, sit down. Sit down!” he shouted while admonishing Mullin. “You’re a United States senator. Sit down!”
“This is a hearing and God knows the American people have enough contempt for Congress,” Sen. Sanders added.
So, it appears that the Republican Roundup: Holiday Edition contains the antics of a supposed “fake” girlfriend of a failed GOP presidential candidate, a cheap shot to the gut from an angry former GOP Speaker of the House, and the threat to go toe-to-toe with a testifying witness by a GOP Senator during a formal hearing.
Very classy, Republicans. Just classy.

Hey Truth, like you always say you cannot make this stuff up.
CNN:
Sen. Markwayne Mullin is not ashamed of his challenge to fight a union boss during a Senate hearing Tuesday.
Instead, the Oklahoma Republican is defending his behavior and actively suggesting that threats of violence have a special place in American history that should be revived.
In an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash on Wednesday, Mullin, a former professional MMA fighter, said a return to physical violence could help cure what he derided as a culture of “keyboard warriors” who “go out there and run their mouth all the time, and then they don’t ever have to face the consequences.”
Mullin’s macho feud is with Sean O’Brien, general president of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters. The two tangled verbally at a previous hearing when Mullin criticized unions for trying to infiltrate his plumbing business. O’Brien later insulted Mullin on Twitter, referencing his height and suggesting he was ready for a fight with Mullin.
To the criticism that a senator should not resort to violent threats, Mullin said, “I’m a guy from Oklahoma first, and there’s consequences for doing some of this.”
He told Bash he was fully ready to fight O’Brien in the Senate hearing room Tuesday when she noted the camera showed him taking off his wedding ring.
“The first thing I thought of when I stood up, I thought: I’m going to break my hand on this guy’s face. I’m going to take my wedding ring off,” Mullin said.
Bash asked how Mullin expects his six children to view all of this, to which he argued, “You’re responsible for your words.”
“I’m not somebody that’s going to say we go around and fight all the time; I got paid to fight,” he said. “But I will say that every now and then, you do, and you should be taught a lesson.”
I really think this guy is a poser. He was not going to fight that man for real.
Oh brother. This is funny and not funny at the same time. These Repubs are something else.
You know things are bad when Tim Scott pulls out a girlfriend and still cannot survive the race. Lol
