Republican Trifecta: GOP Wins The House
The Republican trifecta is now complete. The GOP has won the right to retain control of the US House of Representatives.
Politics :
On Nov. 6th, Donald Trump won The White House. Also on that date, Republicans won control of the US Senate. However, on Wednesday, the final election tally revealed a perfect Republican trifecta with the GOP holding the House.
According to NBC News, House Republicans flipped 7 seats while House Democrats flipped 6 seats, for a net GOP gain of just 1 seat. So far, Republicans have captured the 218 seats needed to secure the majority, ahead of Democrats’ 208 seats. This comes after Republicans flipped 3 Democratic Senate seats to win control of the upper chamber.
“It is a beautiful morning in Washington. It is a new day in America,” a jubilant Speaker Mike Johnson said on the steps of the Capitol. “The sun is shining, and that is a reflection about how we all feel.”
In other news, Senate Republicans have chosen Sen. John Thune of South Dakota as their new majority leader.
Thune will become majority leader in January and take the place of Democratic Sen. Chuck Schumer, who will now become minority leader. Thune also replaces Sen. Mitch McConnell, who served as the Republican leader for 18 years, the longest in history.
Additionally, Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming has been elected the new GOP whip.
The final election tally and other GOP news now means that Donald Trump will have an unobstructed path to enact any agenda his heart desires — including Project 2025, future Supreme Court nominees, handing Elon Musk a government position, exacting revenge against Trump’s (Democratic) enemies, and much, much more — without any barriers whatsoever.
Thanks, America!
