REPUBLICANS ASK: ‘What Went Wrong?’

Spread The Love

After Mitt Romney’s brutal butt-whipping in last month’s presidential election, GOP leaders are planning an “autopsy” of their elephant corpse to determine just what killed the Republican Party.

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus has sprung to action with a panel study, saying he wants answers so that his party never takes such a drubbing again.

“The Growth and Opportunity Project will recommend a plan to further ensure Republicans are victorious in 2013, 2014, 2016 and beyond,” Priebus said in a statement, while announcing the appointment of 5 co-chairs to study the surprise (only to them) Republican defeat.

The co-chairs include former George W. Bush press secretary Ari Fleischer; RNC member Henry Barbour of Mississippi; RNC member Zori Fonalledas of Puerto Rico; RNC member Glenn McCall of South Carolina; and Sally Bradshaw, a political strategist from Florida. The committee will dissect the GOP’s messaging, fundraising, ground game, presidential primaries, as well as successful strategies from Democratic campaigns.

Preibus and his cronies actually believe the Republican message is strong and relevant, but only suffers from being packaged improperly. Hilarious! Sadly, the GOP still fails to realize that with African-Americans, Hispanics, Gays and Lesbians and Women being routinely left out of the Republican equation, the party’s problems are much more severe than just a simple shift in marketing.

In the words of a CNN blog commenter following last month’s election: “Putting a Crap Sandwich in a paper bag or a plastic bag doesn’t matter.  It’s still a CRAP SANDWICH.” Too bad the GOP is so unaware that the wrapping is the least of their worries!
