Rev William Barber: ‘If You Love Dr. King…’
The Rev William Barber ruffled a few feathers on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day, including those of Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and the new Republican governor of Tennessee.
Current Events
During an MLK Day celebration at Tennessee State University, Gov. Bill Lee spoke glowingly of the late Dr. King. “I wonder what Dr. King would think of where we are today?” Gov. Lee said lovingly. However, Rev. Barber simply wasn’t having it.
“Politicians can’t say they love Dr. King and how he stood for love and unity but then…refuse to support his agenda. Right, Governor? Right, Congressman?” Rev William Barber said.
“Dr. King wouldn’t be for a wall,” he continued as the crowd went wild and the new governor shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
Rev. Barber was merely pointing out the hypocrisies displayed during MLK Day 2020, which also included an unbelievably erroneous message from VP Mike Pence that Dr. King would have been in support of Trump’s border wall, a tweet from the NRA regarding Dr. King’s denied permit to carry a firearm, as well a tweet from white supremacist Steven King quoting the famed civil rights leader.
“I’m just saying, I’m too old to play now,” Rev. Barber concluded.

THANK GOD IT’S FRIDAY!
.
DJ, thank you for this! I had not seen or heard about it.
Rev. Barber spoke Truth to racist politicians who are nothing more than brazen hypocrites. They know darn well that WE recognize the cynical and shameless games they play.
Those *ole boyz* deserved to be publicly called OUT and the good Rev. did the honors.
“I’m just saying, I’m too old to play now,” Rev. Barber concluded.
TGIF!
