Rhetoric From Trump
Too Much For Obama?
President Obama may have played it cool, calm and collected in his face-to-face White House meeting with Donald Trump. Â However, the POTUS simply couldn’t hold the truth any longer: he is NOT a fan of the Trump rhetoric.

In remarks made Tuesday in Athens, Greece during his final foreign trip as president, Mr. Obama said Donald Trump tapped into a “troubling” strain of rhetoric that played on Americans’ fears of globalization to win the presidency.
“You’ve seen some of the rhetoric among Republican elected officials and activists and media. Some of it pretty troubling and not necessarily connected to facts, but being used effectively to mobilize people,” the president said at a news conference with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. “And obviously President-elect Trump tapped into that particular strain within the Republican Party and then was able to broaden that enough and get enough votes to win the election.”
He added: “People are less certain of their national identities or their place in the world. It starts looking different and disorienting. And there is no doubt that has produced populist movements, both from the left and the right. That sometimes gets wrapped up in issues of ethnic identity or religious identity or cultural identity. And that can be a volatile mix.”
Since his surprise win last week, global leaders have expressed grave concern over President-elect Donald Trump’s rhetoric on the campaign trail that the US might not keep its international commitments, including the one made to NATO. However, President Obama came to the rescue.
“In my conversation with the President-elect, he expressed a great interest in maintaining our core strategic relationships,” Mr. Obama told world leaders. “And so one of the messages I will be able to deliver is his commitment to NATO and the transatlantic alliance. I think that’s one of the most important functions I can serve at this stage, during this trip, is to let them know that there is no weakening of resolve when it comes to America’s commitment to maintaining a strong and robust NATO relationship, and a recognition that those alliances aren’t just good for Europe, they’re good for the United States, and they’re vital for the world.”
Donald Trump has already admitted he didn’t really know what the job of president entails, and that it may be harder than it looks. Thankfully, Barack Obama is a nice enough guy to forget all of the hateful rhetoric Trump slung his way over the years, and go above and beyond to help out the incoming White House occupant by offering a little pre-job training, as well as some calming words on behalf of Trump to some very skittish world leaders.
Well (sigh)….when you consider the fact that "Trumpism, for the most part, consists of cultural signals and symbolic goals, NOT a set of developed proposals" world leaders have good reason to be "skittish" if not down-right terrified at the potential disaster of a Trump presidency. We all know the man has absolutely NO clue about Anything pertaining to the job for which he ran… and has now been elected to perform (SEE the disarray currently unfolding within his transition team). Btw- I've noticed a rather scared look in Donald's eyes lately. Mayhaps he's beginning to understand the magnitude of what he's gotten himself into for at least the next 4 yrs(?) HEY! Donald. Of course the job of being President "is harder than it looks" you idiot. But no worries. Your supporters want an ignorant know-nothing as their President. A fake alpha-dog who shoots off his big mouth "promising to… Read more »
