R.I.P. DEM SENATE MAJORITY
Yesterday, Democrats’ 60 seat filibuster proof majority officially died in the U.S. Senate, when Republican Scott Brown was sworn-in as the new Junior Senator from Massachusetts.
Vice-President Biden was on hand for the swearing-in duties of Sen. Brown, who replaced the late Ted Kennedy in a seat he held for more than 40 years. Since they lack seniority, Junior Senators are normally given small office space in the out of the way Senate offices across from the Capitol. But somehow, Sen. Brown was able to snag the posh Senate offices former Sen. Ted Kennedy held for many years directly within the Senate rotunda.
Maybe now that Democrats are about to taste how it feels to be out power so soon, perhaps they may be more prone to work together, drop their special interests, and get some things (ahem…HEALTH CARE REFORM) done for a change!
