RIP USA. Experts are predicting that the United States as we know it is on life support and closer to death than we know or are willing to accept!

According to Timothy Snyder, a professor of history at Yale University and an expert on the rise of authoritarianism, the future of the ‘UNITED’ States is not only bleak but beyond repair. In fact, he predicts that the US is already at a fork in the road with only 2 possible paths forward: a new civil war, or the dissolution of the nation altogether.
Snyder believes that the thought of saying RIP USA is based on extreme polarization within the country involving political, social, racial, and spiritual differences that are much too deep to overcome.
“First of all, I just want to say that, for the people who actually study the origins of civil wars, not just in the US, but as a class of events, America doesn’t look good right now,” Snyder said.
Barbara F. Walter, a political scientist at the University of California, San Diego, agreed.
“I’ve seen how civil wars start, and I know the signs that people miss. And I can see those signs emerging here at a surprisingly fast rate,” she said.
For example, half the country believes COVID is fake and that masks and vaccines are unnecessary, while the other half believes the opposite. Half the nation believes Donald Trump was cheated out of a 2nd term while the other half believes otherwise. A portion of the country believes in guns, guns, guns and that the mass shootings of children are staged by crisis actors in order to boost public sentiment to take guns away. Militia groups have spent years training in secret to either overthrow the US government or fight a new civil war. These groups were part of the mob that attacked the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 and include active duty police officers, members of the US military, and more.
“Those social scientists who actually work on this topic — neutrally — see indicators in the United States, which suggests that we are on the brink of some kind of conflict,” Snyder said.
In a scenario that would lead to RIP USA, Snyder said it is “very possible” the US could install (instead of elect) a president in 2025 who technically loses the popular vote and the electoral college by a clear margin but is named president because of “a few gimmicks.”
“A few states just have to withhold their electoral votes. The House of Representatives then votes, according to state delegations. The Supreme Court then blesses the whole configuration and then all of a sudden, you have an installed president of the United States,” Snyder explained.
If this happens, it’s possible the US could end up in another civil war, although Snyder believes such a scenario would more likely lead to the dissolution of the US.
“It’s a kind of conflict that ends with governors seeking some kind of safe haven for their states. It’s a kind of conflict that ends with Americans moving from one part of the country to another to be with people with whom they feel safer,” he said.
“It’s the kind of conflict that ends with some kind of basic political reconstruction, where the US as we know it doesn’t have to exist.”

FAST FACTS:
- Last fall, the University of Virginia Center for Politics released a poll finding that a majority of people who voted to reelect Donald Trump in 2020 now want their state to secede from the Union.
- A stunning 41% of those who voted for Joe Biden in 2020 believe it might be “time to split the country.”
- The Institute of Politics at Harvard’s Kennedy School published a poll that found half of voting-age Americans under 30 believe our democracy is “in trouble” or “failing.” Additionally, a third said they expect there to be “a civil war” within their lifetimes, while a quarter thinks at least 1 state will secede from the US soon.
Guardian: Nobody wants what’s coming, so nobody wants to see what’s coming. On the eve of the first civil war, the most intelligent, the most informed, the most dedicated people in the United States could not see it coming. Even when Confederate soldiers began their bombardment of Fort Sumter, nobody believed that conflict was inevitable. The north was so unprepared for the war they had no weapons. The United States today is, once again, headed for civil war, and, once again, it cannot bear to face it. The political problems are both structural and immediate, the crisis both longstanding and accelerating. The American political system has become so overwhelmed by anger that even the most basic tasks of government are increasingly impossible. The legal system grows less legitimate by the day. Trust in government at all levels is in freefall, or, like Congress, with approval ratings hovering around 20%, cannot… Read more »
