Rudy Giuliani’s Legal Woes Get Worse!
Don’t look now, but Rudy Giuliani’s luck has just gone from bad to worse!
Current Events :
Once upon a time, Rudy Giuliani was considered a rising star in American politics. He was hailed as a hero and nicknamed “America’s Mayor” after his astute handling of the 9/11 crisis in New York City. He was even discussed as a shoo-in for the Republican nomination and a future President of the United States.
However, that was then and this is now.
Nowadays, Rudy Giuliani’s once bright star is worn and tarnished. After hitching his wagon to Donald J. Trump, Rudy has not only become a laughing stock but is in financial ruin and near bankruptcy.
Too bad for him, but news for the one-time “America’s Mayor” took a sharp turn on Monday with word of a brand new lawsuit that is all but certain to bring Giuliani to his knees.
In a report from NBC News, the Davidoff Hutcher & Citron LLP law firm and attorney Robert Costello filed a $1.4 million lawsuit against Rudy for unpaid legal fees. Although the news of a lawsuit is bad enough, what’s worse is that the law firm represented Rudy for years and the partner attorney was once a close friend.
According to the lawsuit, Costello’s firm provided legal services to Giuliani from November 2019 until July of this year for multiple issues related to Rudy’s affiliation with Donald Trump. Their representation included special counsel Jack Smith’s investigation into the January 6th attack on the US Capitol, a criminal probe by federal prosecutors in Manhattan, prosecutor Fani Willis’ investigation into attempts to overturn the 2020 election in Georgia, a Congressional inquiry, attorney disciplinary proceedings that could cost Giuliani his license to practice law, and more than 10 civil lawsuits. However, Giuliani has been unable to pay the firm for years of representation, despite falling into deeper holes that required additional legal services.
The law firm said it billed Giuliani directly for fees and expenses totaling more than $1.5 million, but he only paid them a total of $214,000. In fact, Rudy Giuliani’s most recent payment was only for $10,000 on September 14, 2023.
With that in mind, Costello believed a lawsuit was the only path forward to recoup monies for services rendered.
On Monday evening, Giuliani responded to the suit and suggested it was “excessive.”
“I can’t express how personally hurt I am by what Bob Costello has done,” Giuliani said in a statement. “It’s a real shame when lawyers do things like this, and all I will say is that their bill is way in excess to anything approaching legitimate fees.”
Oh, but it gets worse.
The complaint also stated that the retainer agreement Giuliani signed “provides that in the event Plaintiffs commence a legal proceeding in order to recover legal fees and disbursements, Plaintiffs shall be awarded their reasonable costs and attorneys’ fees.”
Or, in other words, if the law firm and Costello prevail in their lawsuit, their legal fees and expenses for filing the lawsuit will be added to the nearly $1.4 million they’re already demanding from Giuliani.
So, it appears Rudy Giuliani’s alliance with Donald Trump will not only cost him his legal license and reputation, but his wallet, too.
How the mighty have fallen…
OK WASSUP! covers Current Events:
Rudy Giuliani’s luck is running low.
Couldn’t happen to a more deserving piece of human garbage.
Given what he did to those two innocent, Black, women in Atlanta (Lady Ruby and her daughter) I hope this is just the beginning of a long nightmare that will last the rest of his putrid life!
New York Times:
Rudolph W. Giuliani, already under criminal indictment and at risk of losing his law license for his effort to keep Donald J. Trump in office after the 2020 election, is now being sued by his own lawyer.
The lawyer, Robert J. Costello, who had been leading Mr. Giuliani’s defense against an onslaught of legal woes, signed onto the lawsuit brought by his firm on Monday to recover more than $1.3 million in unpaid legal fees. The development deals a stunning blow to Mr. Giuliani, as he nears a financial breaking point.
Mr. Giuliani, the former New York City mayor, ex-U.S. attorney and onetime high-flying litigator, owes nearly $3 million to various law firms, including the one where Mr. Costello is a partner, people with knowledge of the matter have said. Mr. Giuliani had repeatedly sought a financial lifeline from his client, Mr. Trump, who had offered vague promises to pay up but had largely refused to do so.
Much of what Mr. Giuliani owes arose from his work for Mr. Trump in the aftermath of the 2020 election. Mr. Giuliani racked up legal bills while battling an array of criminal and congressional investigations, private lawsuits and disciplinary proceedings that cast a harsh light on his bid to keep Mr. Trump in office in spite of his election loss.
So I guess that little t-tiny so-called “fund-raising” dinner party Trump supposedly held for Rudy several weeks ago didn’t bring in quite enough big bucks huh?..Lol
No worries Rudy, your Pal, Donald will write you a check. Just hang on. It’s coming….it’s coming..Lolol
Rudy Giuliani is a clown. He ruined his life hanging with Trump now look where it got him? Him and all the other fools that got tangled up with Trump deserve everything they are getting and more. I do not feel sorry for any one of them because none of them have learned a thing.
