SAME-SEX MARRIAGES TO RESUME
SAME-SEX MARRIAGES SHOULD RESUME IN CALIFORNIA IMMEDIATELY!
That is according to California Attorney General and current gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown, who says the recent ruling from Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker to allow same-sex marriage was clear and should be made effective NOW!
The attorneys who convinced Judge Walker to overturn the gay marriage ban filed a motion Friday to allow same-sex marriages to resume ASAP. They were joined by the city of San Francisco, Democratic Attorney General Jerry Brown, as well as a surprise supporter in California’s Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had previously opposed it.
Although opponents of same-sex marriage are filing an appeal to Judge Walker’s ruling as expected, there is no reason why the ruling cannot be upheld, until (and if) it is overturned by a higher court. Which means same-sex marriages in California could resume as early as this week and provide a plethora of legal challenges across the country.
