The December 14, 2012 shooting spree was marked on the anniversary this past Saturday with private memorial services, acts of service and kindness and other media banned events.
Connecticut Gov. Dannel Malloy called for houses of worship around the state to ring their bells 26 times — once for each of the 20 children and 6 educators killed. President and Mrs. Obama observed a moment of silence at the White House and various locations across the country also commemorated the solemn occasion.
At a joint appearance last week in Newtown, family members of some of the victims urged citizens to find ways to give back to their own communities.
“In this way, we hope that some small measure of good may be returned to the world,” said JoAnn Bacon, whose 6-year-old daughter, Charlotte, was killed at Sandy Hook.

Outrage over the Sandy Hook shooting sparked an immediate call to action last year to ban civilians from owning semi-automatic rifles, which is the type of weapon used in the school shooting. However, Republican leaders and their cronies at the NRA successfully defeated any challenge to existing gun laws. Sadly, the general public’s very short term memory and attention span, has all but eradicated public sentiment to change gun laws and prevent such a shooting massacre from ever happening again.

The biggest rouse about guns is they don't kill people but that is a lie. Guns kill and that is their purpose. No one buys a gun to decorate their home or to wear it. There is always a 50/50 chance that the person with the gun will end up killing someone unjustly. Today it is very rare to actually see someone who shot someone in true since of self defense. All I see is a bunch of nuts going off on people who ticks them off. And the either claiming self defense or mental stress.
This is nothing but a modern day old west. No one is safe.
