For far too long, our lax gun laws in America have allowed dangerous weapons to fall into the hands of deranged people. Enough is enough!
Fed up Americans are pressing the White House and Congress to enact strict gun control laws, following the shooting deaths of 20 children and 6 adults at the Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT last Friday.
Innocent 6 and 7 year old children were gunned down while inside their school, a place that should be a natural safe zone. Adam Lanza, a troubled 20-year-old who is said to have suffered from psychological issues, was identified as the killer. Lanza killed his mother, Nancy Lanza, in the home they shared in Newtown. For some unknown reason he then drove to the Sandy Hook Elementary School and used a .223 caliber “Bushmaster” rifle and a Sig Sauer and Glock pistol to conduct a murderous rampage. He then turned the gun on himself and took his own life.
The guns were legally purchased and owned by Nancy Lanza, but why did an ordinary citizen need semi-automatic assault type weapons — in a house with a psychologically disturbed person?
Since the Sandy Hook shooting, an Indiana man was arrested for threatening to shoot up an elementary school in the northern town of Cedar Lake. He had 47 guns in his possession ready to make good on his threat, before police put an end to his plans and arrested him.
The National Rifle Association has long used the 2nd Amendment to argue against gun control. They say citizens need these weapons to hunt and to protect themselves. But how many hunters need semi-automatic assault rifles to take down a deer? And how many of these young children in Sandy Hook would have been able to protect themselves if there were more guns? NONE!!!
The Republican Party calls itself “Pro Life” when it comes to a fetus, but how “Pro Life” are they when it comes to guns killing innocent little children??
It’s time for the NRA to stop holding the American people hostage. It’s time for the Republican Party to get out of the back pocket of the NRA. It’s time for citizens to stop believing the answer to gun violence is more guns. It’s time for all of us to stand up for gun control.
WAKE UP AMERICA! Enough is enough!
