SANTORUM ON ‘BLACK PEOPLE’
GOP presidential candidate Rick Santorum may be celebrating his strong 2nd place showing in last night’s Iowa Caucus. But his comments on Monday night regarding “black people” has turned his celebration into condemnation.
While pandering to a conservative crowd in Sioux City, Santorum seized upon an old stereotype to equate welfare with African-Americans. Santorum quoted from the Republican playbook that he wants to limit precious tax dollars from going to Medicaid and food stamp programs, saying: “I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money. I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money.” HUH???
Exactly how does a discussion about Medicaid and food stamps turn into a discussion about black people?? Statistics show that in most communities, whites surpass blacks in Medicaid and food stamp claims, which would mean that any discussion of such programs should not contain any mention of race at all.
Santorum tried early Tuesday to back peddle on his comments, but the damage was already done. If he truly wanted to have a policy discussion with his conservative caucus goers, he could have easily removed any mention of black people and simply said: “I don’t want to make Medicaid and food stamp recepients’ lives better by giving them somebody else’s money…” But he didn’t. He clearly put foot in mouth, exposed his true colors and showed the world exactly where his head is when it comes to old racial stereotypes.
WATCH:
Okay. I heard about this story yesterday and honestly I wasn't suprised in the least because IMO Santorum is simply expressing VERY PUBLICLY what's been the *GIVEN* thought among many_if not most_Republicans, making RACIST and ALL manner of other reprehensible and FALSE comments about "minorities" in general and *Blacks* and Muslims in particular. And quite frankly I want him and ALL others of his ilk to keep up their madness for ALL the world to see so that when the FIRST African-American President in U.S. history is re-elected (and I truly believe he's going to be re-elected) THAT act by the majority of the American people will send the LOUDEST and most clear REJECTION of such vile and evil people. So let the Haters spew their venom. The world….this Country…is leaving them BEHIND. And all they've got is their Fear, ignorance, paranoia, Hatred and lies. They've got NOTHING else.
