You're a wiser man RWG than the fellas serving in the Republican leadership.

In their very public and immediate opposition to even considering Obama’s nominee, Senate Republicans may be unwittingly aiding the other party in the presidential election and in a number of close Senate races that they have to win to retain the majority. TAC Reader:
I suspect that most Americans, inasmuch as they have any awareness of Scalia, will think of him as a crotchety and obnoxious old man, reflecting the view of 50 years ago. He also has had an enthusiastic hand in two of the most catastrophic court decisions, the judicial coup of 2000, and Citizens United. He certain,y seems to have gone off the rails in the last few years, and his naked promotion of religion in our national governance was quite offensive.

The republicans will, as usual, overplay their hand. If Obama nominates from an as yet untargeted minority group it will be yet another group for them to offend and abuse.

As you say, it is highly possible that a Dem could be in the White House next year, w. Dem majority. It would be great then to see Pres. Obama nominated!

It would be great to see a sensible national discussion about term limits for SC justices. Maybe longest serving retires every two years, which would allow for a reasonable length of service and keep the court somewhat aligned to the society it serves. […]

Co-sign with BD. It is ridicules (of course).

However, I suppose it was also predictable, given that since the very second that Obama was first elected President in 2008, the Repubs have thrown everything at him imaginable AND Unimaginable in their desperate attempt to *N*ggerize* Pres. Obama and delegitimize his Presidency. The truth is that's all this BS is about.

At this point Repubs simply can NOT help themselves. Their deep-seeded Hatred of Pres. Obama runs too deep, dictating ALL that they they Think, Say and Do when to comes to him. It's been described as "Obama Derangement Syndrome."

I call it just plain old Hate, rootrd in White racism.

The President will do his job and give NOT a flying fig about the Haters.
