As we continue to wait for the complete election results, let’s take a moment to remember the life of Sean Connery.

Actor Sean Connery, who was best known as the “original” James Bond, passed away last weekend after a lengthy battle with dementia. According to his son, he died peacefully in his sleep in the Bahamas, having been “unwell for some time.”
“He had many of his family, who could be in the Bahamas, around him” when he died, Jason Connery said. “A sad day for all who knew and loved my dad and a sad loss for all people around the world who enjoyed the wonderful gift he had as an actor.”
Sean Connery enjoyed an illustrious acting career that spanned 7 decades. His many films include The Hunt for Red October, Highlander, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, The Rock, and The Untouchables, which earned him an Academy Award in 1988.
However, his signature role was the suave and debonair Agent 007 in the James Bond film series. Connery originated the role in “Dr. No” in 1962, then went on to appear in 5 additional Bond films, including “From Russia With Love” (1963), “Goldfinger” (1964), “Thunderball” (1965), “You Only Live Twice” (1967), “Diamonds Are Forever” (1971) and “Never Say Never Again” (1983).

Daniel Craig, who is the current James Bond, called Connery “one of the true greats of cinema”.
“Sir Sean Connery will be remembered as Bond and so much more,” Craig said. “He defined an era and a style. The wit and charm he portrayed on screen could be measured in megawatts; he helped create the modern blockbuster. He will continue to influence actors and film-makers alike for years to come. My thoughts are with his family and loved ones.”
Pierce Brosnan, who played the role of James Bond from 1995 to 2005, also paid tribute.
“You were mighty in every way — as an actor and as a man — and will remain so til the end of time. You were loved by the world and will be missed. God bless, rest now, be at peace.”
.
Shirley Bassey, who sang the theme song for 3 James Bond films including Goldfinger, offered her condolences.
“I’m incredibly saddened to hear of Sean’s passing,” Dame Bassey said. “My thoughts are with his family. He was a wonderful person, a true gentleman and we will be forever connected by Bond.”
Sean Connery is survived by his wife Micheline, and sons Jason and Stephane. He was 90.
