Move over, Hillary Rodham Clinton — your clear-path coronation as the Democratic nominee for President of the United States is not so clear after all.

Unbiased Political News
Independent U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, a self-described socialist who frequently caucuses with Democrats as one of the most outspoken liberals in Congress, has announced he will seek the 2016 Democratic nomination for president.

“I believe (voters) want a fundamental change so that government works for ordinary Americans and not just billionaires,” Sanders said during an unofficial announcement late Wednesday night.

“I am running in this election to win,” he continued. “We’ve got a long path forward. Most people in America have never heard of Bernie Sanders. More than 90% of Americans have heard of Hillary Clinton. … I will absolutely be out-spent.  But I do believe we have a chance to raise significant amounts of money through small, individual contributions.”

With a growing field of challengers clawing at each other for the Republican nomination, Hillary was perfectly poised to skate through the Democratic primaries unopposed.  Now, with Sanders entering the race and former Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley expected to throw his hat into the ring sometime next month, the former Secretary of State and First Lady could have a veritable dog fight on her hands for the nomination.

Unbiased Political News
Sanders, as well as liberal Democrats O’Malley and Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts have been pressing the moderate-leaning Clinton to move to the left on economic policy by embracing tighter Wall Street regulation and a more robust social safety net.  So far, she has expressed no desire to move further left.

Sen. Sanders says he will take a political approach that few Democrats are willing to these days — he will embrace liberalism in an era where most Democrats are frequently running away from the “L” word. Although Mrs. Clinton is clearly the front-runner, challengers like Sanders and O’Malley and their liberal policies could create a naggingly difficult path to the presidency for her.

I could be wrong…and certainly time will tell….. But from where I sit …despite a few sacrificial lambs on the Dems side, Hillary still appears to have a clear path to the Presidency. And frankly, I say this with no amount of joy in my heart at all. The Clintons are beyond any political powerhouse couple I've ever seen when it comes to being absolutely UNscrupulous. They are ompletely self-serving..and so smart, smug, and arrogant they're always up to something that doesn't quite pass the *smell* test while daring their opponents (primarily the Repubs) to prove it. Politically, they fear no one save President Obama. And they will never have to face off against him again. In fact, next to Bill and Chelsea, Pres. Obama will be Hillary's next biggest champion because her election to the Presidency will serve to extend His legacy. And perhaps most importantly…… Millions upon Millions… Read more »

Mr. BD

Bernie Sanders has about as much chance of becoming president as I do. All Hillary has to do is show him respect and she'll still win easy. Nothing to see here.
