SEN. ENSIGN TO RESIGN
He was once known as the darling of the Republican party. He was once considered a prime candidate to seek the GOP nomination for President of the United States. But by next week, Senator John Ensign of Nevada will simply be known as “ex” Senator Ensign.
Late last week, the scandal-plagued Ensign announced he will resign amid an investigation into an extramarital affair he had with the wife of his campaign aide. “I will not continue to subject my family, my constituents or the Senate to any further rounds of investigation, depositions, drawn-out proceedings or especially public hearings,” he said. Or in other words, Ensign saw the writing on the wall and will exit on his own accord, instead of being forced out.
Ensign will leave the senate on May 3rd.
