SEN. FRANKEN SWORN IN
After an 8 month delay from a tightly contested race last November, Minnesota finally has full representation on Capitol Hill. Democrat Al Franken was declared the official winner and was sworn in yesterday, giving Democrats a 60 seat filibuster proof majority. Putting all jokes aside, Franken, the former comedian and Saturday Night Live performer, said he is ready for the challenge and looking forward to getting right to work for the people of his state. The 58 year old Franken was escorted to the Senate floor by fellow Minnesotan and former Vice-President Walter Mondale, and will serve on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Senate Committee on Indian Affairs, the Special Committee on Aging, and the Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
