Sessions – Justice Dept. Under Trump Attack
Attorney General Jeff Sessions and the United States Justice Department are under direct attack from none other than Donald J. Trump.
Politics
With his only qualifications for the presidency being that he was once a reality television star, it’s becoming more and more apparent that “The Donald” is absolutely clueless as to how government works. Somehow, he seems to be under the impression that he is “King” Trump, that everyone works for and answers directly to him, and that whatever he says goes. Too bad for him, nothing could be further from the truth.
Following last month’s indictments of Republican Rep. Chris Collins of New York and Republican Rep. Duncan Hunter of California (two of Trump’s earliest supporters in Congress), Trump criticized Sessions for failing to protect them politically.
In a Twitter rant earlier this week, Trump tweeted that 2 Republican congressmen were “brought to a well-publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department.”
“Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good Job Jeff,” Trump barked.
Sadly, Trump was more concerned with the likely loss of 2 safe Republican seats rather than the fact that these 2 men had broken the law and that it was Sessions’ sworn duty to punish them just like any other American citizen.

Two long running, Obama era, investigations of two very popular Republican Congressmen were brought to a well publicized charge, just ahead of the Mid-Terms, by the Jeff Sessions Justice Department. Two easy wins now in doubt because there is not enough time. Good job Jeff……

….The Democrats, none of whom voted for Jeff Sessions, must love him now. Same thing with Lyin’ James Comey. The Dems all hated him, wanted him out, thought he was disgusting – UNTIL I FIRED HIM! Immediately he became a wonderful man, a saint like figure in fact. Really sick!

Now, Democrats are sounding the alarm that the Justice Department is being targeted by Donald Trump — and that Trump is failing to uphold his oath to “preserve, protect, and defend the constitution” by choosing to do whatever serves him personally instead.
“Our justice system is under attack,” said Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut. His remarks came on the heels of Sen. Dick Durbin, the second ranking Democrat in the Senate, who called Trump’s actions “unprecedented in American history.”
“This President, by his tweets, has virtually no respect for the rule of law,” Durbin said.
Democratic Sen. Mazie Hirono of Hawaii said she thinks Trump doesn’t understand the separation of powers.
“He thinks the attorney general works for him,” she said. “He thinks the entire federal government works for him at his beck and call.”
Democratic Sen. Pat Leahy of Vermont compared Trump to a North Korean-like dictator.
“Only in — in North Korea, the leader may say you may prosecute this person not this person. For the president of the United States to say, ‘don’t prosecute Republicans, only prosecute Democrats,’ – I was a prosecutor for eight years. Made my blood boil.” Leahy said.
Delaware’s Democratic Sen. Chris Coons said Trump’s call for Sessions to put political posturing ahead of the law is “unprecedented.”
“This should concern every senator and every American and frankly hangs over this confirmation hearing for Judge Kavanaugh,” he said. Coons added that he is “confident” Special Counsel Robert Mueller will “be looking at this particular tweet and ways in which the President is seeking to interfere with ongoing federal criminal prosecutions.”
Interestingly, a fellow Republican chose to break rank with Trump by publicly voicing his support of Sessions and the Justice Department.
“The United States is not some banana republic with a two-tiered system of justice — one for the majority party and one for the minority party,” Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska said. “These two men have been charged with crimes because of evidence, not because of who the President was when the investigations began. Instead of commenting on ongoing investigations and prosecutions, the job of the President of the United States is to defend the Constitution and protect the impartial administration of justice.”
Is Trump’s public rebuke of Attorney General Sessions for failing to do his bidding and overlook illegalities by congressmen within his own party only digging a deeper hole for “The Donald”? You better believe it!
King Trump doesn’t get to pick who the law applies to and who it doesn’t apply to simply based on his own personal whims. Thankfully, Special Counsel Mueller is about to teach him a much-needed lesson in civics — one that he should have learned BEFORE he entered the Oval Office.
Trump really does think he is king or dictator or something. He wants to control the Justice department so they do everything he wants and not let Muller keep investigating him. I was having a conversation at work if Trump or Pence is the lesser of two evil. And I am honestly not sure.
