Reports of Donald Trump making the rancid remark that the US must stop letting in people from Africa, Haiti, and other “shithole nations” doesn’t appear to be dying down. In fact, after adding that the US should start letting in more people from places like “Norway,” Trump’s words are coming at a cost.

As the old saying goes: “What’s said/done in the dark, always comes to the light.” That saying couldn’t be more relevant now that more people are beginning to accept that after referring to predominately black countries as “shithole” nations, Donald Trump might just be a racist after all.
How does one demonize black nations as “shithole” but roll out the welcome mat to white nations and get away with it? They don’t — which is why Trump is in a heap of a mess 1 day after the MLK holiday and only a few days before the 1 year anniversary of his inauguration.
In true Trump fashion, “The Donald” immediately rallied the troops and tried to insulate himself once Sen. Dick Durbin blabbed about the “shithole” statement. Trump called all the black ministers, black yes-men, and other blacks he knew to stand behind him as he denied ever making the statement. He then called for a private meeting with Isaac Newton Farris Jr., the nephew of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. who also serves as president and CEO of the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change. For good measure, Trump also invited the lone “token” black in his cabinet, Dr. Ben Carson, to sit in on the meeting (despite the fact that Dr. Carson is the Housing Secretary and by no stretch of the imagination a civil rights leader or expert).
Somehow, Trump was able to persuade Farris that “I am not the person that the media is making me out to be,” prompting Dr. King’s nephew to cut “The Donald” a bit of a break.
“I personally don’t think that President Trump is a racist in the traditional sense,” Farris Jr. said in Trump’s defense. “I think that President Trump is racially uninformed or racially ignorant.”
HUH???
If you make racist statements or use racist epithets, you are not racially “uninformed.” You are not racially “ignorant.” You are a RACIST, plain and simple. No word on how much Farris was paid persuaded to back Trump, who emerged from the meeting grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Still, even if Trump was able to get to the nephew of a civil rights icon, he still has the world to answer to — and they are not at all in the mood for forgiving.

On Monday, South Africa issued a diplomatic protest to the United States to denounce the “shithole” comments, saying that international reactions “clearly serve as a united affirmation of the dignity of the people of Africa and the African diaspora.”
UN human rights spokesman Rupert Colville also condemned Trump’s remarks as “shocking and shameful” and going against the “universal values” of the world.
“I’m sorry, but there’s no other word one can use but racist,” Colville said, adding “You cannot dismiss entire countries and continents as ‘shitholes’ whose entire populations, who are not white, are therefore not welcome.”
Former Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe said, “SHAME ON TRUMP! The world is witnessing a new low today.” While calling the remarks “totally unacceptable,” he added that “It shows a lack of respect and ignorance never seen before in the recent history of the US by any President.”
Democrats and Republicans alike have also unified in condemning Trump’s choice of words. However, it was an ordinary, everyday American who seemed to have the last laugh.
Over the weekend, the Trump Hotel in downtown Washington, DC received a surprise makeover. Robin Bell posted a video on his Twitter page Saturday night showing the words “This Place is a Shithole” projected onto the walls of the hotel alongside poop emojis, and an arrow pointing at the establishment’s arched entrance.
Additional messages that were also beamed onto the hotel Saturday include “The President of the United States is a Known Racist and Nazi Sympathiser,” alluding to the Trump’s controversial comments after the Charlottesville white nationalist rally in August.
With a history of lying in order to create his own version of the truth, Donald Trump remains adamant that he never called Africa and Haiti “shithole nations.” However, Sen. Durbin remains adamant that Trump did use such language.

[….] I agree with you DJ. “They don’t” But how much of a price will he actually pay? We shall see. Trump and his enablers counted on his highly offensive comments playing well with his *base.* And indeed, for most of that bunch….it has. However, for the rest of America (the majority) and the world – it appears a general sense of revulsion at such a vile and vulgar creature is setting in. Here’s the deal. It makes no difference if he actually said “sh*thole” or “sh*thouse” -the sentiment is the same. So his *base* and butt-kissers can Spare Me the BS denial.
