Mississippi Republican Governor Phil Bryant has refused to call a special legislative session to address the issue, resisting calls to do so from leading state officials. In a 2001 statewide referendum, Mississippians overwhelmingly endorsed keeping the current state flag’s design.

“A backlash is beginning,” said Ben Jones, a spokesman for the Sons of Confederate Veterans, which represents 30,000 descendants of Confederate soldiers. “We are putting flags out. Everyone time one is taken down, we put five or six of them up.” [….]

White Supremacist, Ben Jones and his ilk are running around shooting off thier mouths about 30,000 descendants of Confederate soldiers and hanging multiple confederate flags…smh. As IF any of that actually means anything in the NOT so distant future of this country!?!

This is a big deal. I remember when the NAACP started a boycott of South Carolina over the flag. This thing tumbling down all over the south is making me wonder if hell is freezing over. The good thing is the nine church members that died will not die in vain.

Yeah. Just like if any Jews having a problem with the Swastika flag is…well…their problem./sarc. Spare me.

Removal of that flag from South Carolina's State House is a good first-step forward for that state. But it's just a step.

WHY it took the massacring of 9 innocent Black people, in their home-church by a young racist White terrorist whose mind was clearly wrapped-up in ALL that THAT flag symbolises..in the year 2015 no less…AND after the genuinely impassioned plea given at about the 11th hour of debate by S.C. Republican Congresswoman Jenny Horne (a direct descendent of Jefferson Davis- Confederate President) to Take Down That Flag….BEFORE the majority of White Republican politicians showed the slightest bit of Humanity in voting to take that d*mn flag down!?! should,IMO, also be noted.
